But it's not needed to download or install our database?

"That can be done here too. There is the "consolidated by type" version with only five camera types, or there is a "single" file" version - that would involve just one .ov2 and one .bmp.
Unfortunately, it was decided to drop that version in ov2 format, but it can still be downloaded in one of the other formats such as .csv and converted back to .ov2 using shareware programs such as POIEdit. "

I followed the instructions in this chat forum....

Yes, I suggested that. I use POI Edit all the time.

While I find it fairly unbelievable that a simple data-wrangling and file-format conversion program such as POIEdit could EVER "wipe your Lion boot partition from windows on your main mac." stranger things have happened - computers can do weird things if you don't understand them fully....

However as POIEdit is absolutely nothing to do with TomTom, I certainly don't see how you get from your unfortunate situation to saying "TomTom sucks...." There's no connection between the two whatsoever!

Sorry you couldn't find a way to make your computers do what everyone else's seem to manage....

Could be that MyPOI Manager was used, and not PoiEdit2007.2.

Although I don't understand how even that could have caused such a problem. Confused

Same problem here. Using the zip file, which does contain everything I asked for when I downloaded it. TomTom Start 25 latest software, My TomTom latest version.
IE9 you must unzip this file to install.
Latest Firefox, Before installing this POI set, you need to unzip the file.??

Sorry to be picky, but whenever someone says "xyz...the latest version" my immediate thought is "how do we know his latest version is the same as mine?"

What actual software version have you got on the Start 25, and what actual MyTomTom version have you got?

Then hopefully someone with the same combination as you, can check to see if it works for them.

Unfortunately, I have some pretty non-standard version numbers, so I'm not the best person to do the experiment.

My TomTom Ver: (3.1.0.530)

Thanks again...

So it's looking like it's something subtle - browser and/or PC-related rather then anything in MyTomTom or the TomTom itself.

Good to hear you've got it going with Chrome.

For what it's worth, I've got a Start xx on different software (can't say what) and I've got a Go1005 on the same v11.037 build 3015 software as you, and both of them accept the zip file OK on a WindowsXP box running Firefox v10 or v11

Thanks again for the reply.
Installation went ok but the device, (Start 25 UK), came with TomTom's own camera alerts. Wondered if it's possible to deactivate them as I have no pgps voice warnings, just the TomTom ping. I did install the sound files.
I have done a search but can't find anything ref the 25.

Thank you.

There should be absolutely no problem adding the camera warnings, including the real voice sound alerts, onto the Start 25 - they work in the same way as the other "NAV3" models.

It does mention the Start 20 and 25 in the compatibility table here. Are you following the instructions it links to here to the letter?

Ensure you upload ALL the files (.ov2, .bmp and .ogg) using the "Add POI" section of "Add Community Content" in MyTomTom, not one of the other sections.

Then you set up the warnings in "Manage POIs".

To switch off the TomTom-supplied alerts you just go to Main menu / Services / Speed cameras, and tap "Disable alerts".
