|
|
Hi all,
I have a tom tom 720 and have been using it on my motorcycle with ipod ear phones, what I would like to know is can the 720 go wireless with the spoken instructions and if so how, also
which blue tooth units work and which are best at a sensible cost
How do you select the 720 on to hear the spoken instructions.
Thanks for any help in this matter
Ned
ps, will a ttgo work if put in a back pack or do's it have to be upright and facing the right way |

A Go720 can work using Bluetooth for audio output as long as the Bluetooth device it is connecting to supports A2DP Protocol, this is stereo audio over Bluetooth, not many single earpiece devices will offer such connectivity as stereo needs both ears!
To select BT Audio output make sure Bluetooth is switched on, it's an option within change preferences then got to Change Preferences/ Speaker options and select Bluetooth for navigation and music playback.
The oriantation the TomTom is at has no bearing (sorry no pun intended) on either your speed, heading or direction of travel, it can work out which way it is travelling from the GPS signal - Mike |

Are you after something for Bluetooth audio for the Bike, Car or when on foot as it's difficult to understand exactly what you are wanting from the original post? - Mike |

ned1, I can confirm that my SonyEricsson HBH-DS200 bluetooth Headset & Speakers work Ok with my Go930.
Also obtained from eBay a couple of months ago for about 16quid.
EDIT - Currently about the same price as yours but a little cheaper at Amazon. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Have you got the headphones paired to your phone per chance prior to trying to connect the TomTom? If so delete the pairing with the phone and try again with the TomTom - Mike |

Also double check the BT is actually enabled, I have seen some stupid error messages from devices when trying to connect when the BT is disabled - Mike |

It finds the device and is listed as mw 600, then it comes back with when selected, :-
MW 600 unable to use this device for hi fi audio playback the required features could not be found for this device.
I was wondering if the fact that the ttg is seems to only work on one earpiece which was happening with wired headphones has anything to do with it.
Had no problems with my phone with BT on the ttg |

ned1, The specs of your SE mw600 and my SonyEricsson HBH-DS200 appear to be equal, just the design of the models differ and my SE works with my TT Go930 (with v 8.351 software) so it should be a matter of not giving up. Try some re-sets, the Clear Flash tool.
There is this thread from AndyVaughan of a few years ago.
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=67502&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
Some good reading on the troubles of Bluetooth, the fix for AndyVaughan appears half way down on page 2. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Thanks for that AliOnHols,
Just had a look at which software I am running and it's 7.221
is it possible that a software update would sort it out.
Would I be able to load the same software into mine and if so where and how can this be done.
Going to have a read of your link later on.
Thanks again for your help

The NavCore I prefer for my 730 is v8.351 which is ok for your 720 also (TT have just released a v 9.xxx - but i don't really know anything about this other than I don't want it). Links to v8.351 can be found by using the search button above, I always use the keywords "whitepilgrim volume". Do not use TT Home for this as it shall foist the v9.xxx version upon you .
I know you know, but please, please make a full Windows Explorer (or similar) back up of your SatNav before doing anything else. Don't rely on a TomTomHome backup. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
