Hi
RE: PND's 950 live,
Can you check if you have v885 maps on your PC in your Dowload folders (as set out in preferences for folders in TomTom Home)
I was just checking for something and noticed that the downloaded maps were not stored on PC,.
Using TomTom home / manage my Go, I discovered maps only appear to be stored on my SD cards and not downloaded onto PC directory as specified in TomTom Home!
I have map v880 files on PC, just nothing for v 885
Assuming it is error onmy PC, how can I download a copy of onto my PC.
Note, other devices in my family - 730, 720 and xl are not affected _________________ Mick

That is very strange......you are **sure** you can't find it here:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\maps\
(path is for xp, varies a bit for Vista and W7).
If you rename 'Downloads' to 'Downloadsold', it should force another download of the map. _________________ David |

No, it definately is not there, v880 is, as are map folders with latest maps for 720, 730, xl.
Renaming the file results in no action from TomTom Home.
Also, after renaming and then checking Manage my Go, and install items from my computer, results in message 'No items Available _________________ Mick

Is it currently working OK on the TomTom at present? If so, please make your backups using Windows (make folders on your PC and copy EVERYTHING from the internal drive and the SD card there). It will be more reliable than hoping the Home has a copy of everything you need.
You didn't download the map originally on a different PC or Windows account did you? That may explain why you don't see this map with the others.

Hi thanks for replies.
No, the map was supposed to be downloaded to same laptop I always use, which is what makes this strange.
I do have all usual backups (monthly, for over a year), made via Windows Explorer so I am covered in event of failure and have never used Home for backups _________________ Mick

I just checked and I have two v885 'Europe' map downloads in C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\maps\ one for my Go940 and one for my Go950 and also a 'Europe-Western_Zone' for my daughter's XL Live IQ.
So it all looks normal here, doesn't look like there has been any change in the download method. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Is it possible that in Home 2's menu preferences for Folder locations that, somehow, the default folder for downloaded files got changed from the default? _________________ David |

Try searching your PC for "*.toc". I've definitely got a "Western_and_Central_Europe.toc" (along with the rest of the files) in "C:\Documents and Settings\XYZ\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\complete\map\Europe-2", dated yesterday, when I downloaded v885. _________________ Jock

Well I am truly stumped.
I have searched through all my hard drives (and hidden folders), and no Europe folder exists that includes the latest version 885 maps (v880 I have).
Yet, I have all the v885 maps for all my other devices located in:
J:\TomTom\HOME\Download\complete\map
My PC drives are backed up everyday, so I have checked previous PC back ups to investigate if map folder with v885 was accidently deleted at any time, but no v885 exists!.
The map gremlins must have snuck in and stolen it! _________________ Mick
