My first GPS was a Medion which I bought at Aldi. By looking closely at the display when it booted up I found it was a Navigon clone which made trying to find updates and so on much easier.
You should be able to find out what version of Windows CE it runs by looking for an "Info" screen or similar. Also look for any other clues - such as "Maps by Navteq" which will give a pointer to whose software it runs. I assume you have already tried contacting Binatone?
When you have got as much info as possible do a web search to see what you can find.
I hope you have better luck than I did - in the end I binned the Medion and bought a proper Navigon as I liked their software!
