Just a quick update I produced the support_asr.dat
file and pasted it into the correct file. This resulted in Command and Control becoming active and also my Computer voice apart from the fact there is no sound. Can I take it that I still need to do a complete instalation of the maps. |

If you select a computer voice and click on 'test', do you hear nothing? Is your unit providing any other sounds? Under 'voice settings', do you have 'disable voice'? And is it checked?
Things to look at........... _________________ David |

1. Voice not disabled
2. Can select standard voice ok
3. Can select Computer voice but no sound
4. Command and Control appears to accept spoken instructions.

If you connect to Home, are you offered other computer voices under: Add maps/voices--computer voices (set the filter to ALL). _________________ David |

Now you've got C+C working, you MUST make that new backup with Win Explorer, if you haven't already.
Make sure you give the folder you put it into a good name that describes it well, as we might end up juggling several different backups soon.
You haven't come back to us with what the contents of the two backups in the Home folder look like. (see my last post)
Let me know. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

OK, assuming you've made the NEW backup, have you tried putting everything from "Backup #1" back onto the TomTom? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Fantastic!
Now, I forget... had you bought a new map? If so, you'll want to copy the Europe map folder from your LATEST backup back onto the TomTom.
And sorry to be a bore, but do YET ANOTHER backup, with everything working, in one place.
If you're short on space, it might be time to think about moving the map folder onto an external microSD card too.
The v9.401 download is worth doing even if you weren't having problems with your LIVE reception. In fact, next time you connect to Home, you'll be forced to update to it anyway. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I would keep at least the very earliest and the last one or two.
How about burning them to a DVD or two if you don't want them filling up your harddrive? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I know it has been some time since the last post but just to give you a update. I do not use my device on a regular basis but this month I set off on my Europe tour for a month. Noted that the device seemed to take ages to load a route. Once in Switzerland the device crashed a couple of times but then restarted. After a couple of more days it crashed and from then now only loads the splash screen then the next where the yellow line goes across the screen then back to the splash and simply freezes on that until it attempts to start up again.
As you can probably imagine I need my device badly as I was heading for Italy etc and so was forced to purchase a new one but in Italy only the 750 GO is available. Had only just paid for renewing Live services very fed up with Tomtom. As you may imagine only have WIFI on some occasions so wait until I get home Tomtom. |
