I am trying to download POIs for Sygic and the POI file downloaded is only 22 bytes.
I have tried several categories and they all give a file of 22 bytes, ie empty.
Is there a trick to this? |

I'm presuming that you are downloading the POIs from this site.
Have you tried ticking the Show Link Option (beside the Download Button)?
This usually helps if there is a problem with the download. _________________ Richard

Yes from this site and no the "show link" makes no difference as the POI file downloaded is still empty.
This does not occur on a Tomtom ov2 file so it must be a site bug on Sygic downloads.. |

I have requested that someone has a look at the workings of the database, so that this problem can be resolved. Bear with us. _________________ Richard

Yes thanks also from me.
It would be better if the Sygic POIs were in .upi format to save having to convert each one from the text.
I wanted to subscribe to the camera file but the conversion effort is too much. |

Sadly it's simply not possible... The .upi files need custom software to create.
You can, however, use a windows batch file to convert all the speed cam files in one quick go? I have one kicking about somewhere that would do it (only for our speed cam file names though)

For other types of POI I use the Tomtom ov2 file and convert it to a .upi with a ov2 to upi converter. Sometimes a bit iffy and works 50% of the time. |

Is this of any use?

Yes the converter does work sometimes.
The problem is there is not another good nav application for Android.
Thanks. |

Note that the POI import function is only available in Sygic Android version 11.2 and up. This version also created a bug where the current street name is not shown.
I've subscribed to the camera database but now realise that I can't import it for use with the earlier (fully functional) version of Sygic
Not PGPSW's fault of course but I feel like I wasted 20 quid.. Maybe worth a note on the installation guide that Sygic 11.2 or higher is required?

There is an update to 11.2.5.
I use...ov2upi translator 2.9.exe... from here...
http://www.mediafire.com/?73k6f5vq3yo0gv5.
Norton Internet security initailly said there was a problem only because a few people had downloaded it. Use it with Windows 7 as Administrator.
First off I use Tomtom ov2 POIs and convert to .upi, then I use the Sygic converter to .rupi file.
Copy both .rupi and .bmp file to the map import folder.
A bit long winded but it's then possible to use this sites POIs and camera files.
I have a question for the group admin... Is there another way to pay for the camera subscription as I refuse to have a Paypal account due to their terms and conditions.. |

Sygic have changed the format of their POIs over the last couple of years. When I first got MM9 they were in upi format and they stayed that way in MM10. However when Sygic replaced MM with Aura that did not support custom POI import.
It was only later that Sygic started to support custom POIs, and at about the same time they chnaged the name of the product again to Sygic GPS. They also introduced a new format for custom POIs called rupi. They alleged on their website that they still support upi, but I have never been able to successfully install them into the new Sygic using the old format. _________________ Peter
