I am currently contemplating a hard reset. Is there an easy way to backup my TomTom settings e.g. Favourites & POI's to avoid me having to set them all up again? |

Your POI's exist as .ov2 files within the map folder. If this exists on a storage card then they will not be affected by a Hard Reset, if the map folder is in memory on the PPc then simply copy the .ov2 and .bmp file for each POI category to your PC before you hard reset.
This is why we advise that you save all your personal locations as POIs rather than favourites _________________ Darren Griffin |

It is no problem to back up your favourites if you don't stick them in as POI's as suggested.
On you Ipaq go to My \My Documents\TomTom Navigator Settings
Backup all these files
The file 'Great_BritainNavigatorSettings.cfg' contains your favourites

Hi
I suggest you look at my "Help with Restore" topic with a last posting on 31st August 2004. I now use the sprite latest backup/restore which is more versatile and works well. It may well help you with your problem

If you do a full restore after you have done your hard reset, watch your PIM (contacts, notes etc) . Think very carfully when it asks what you want to have done with the 3,500 differring addresss, contacts etc (as mine did) and I duplicated the lot accidently. I know this is not TT related, but excuse this one. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

Does that same file in your 'My Docs/TT settings' etc contain changes like if you have altered what options are on page 1 when you tap the screen, if you have altered which POI are visible or if you've changed the default speeds? (Things you've altered in properties basically) _________________ TomTom 6 - SPV M5000 and WM6
