|
|
I've owned a TomTom 910 from when they first came out in the UK and have been very pleased with it. However I'm now changing to a modern sat-nav with improved guidance and am looking at something like the 825 Live. Unfortunately I've not seen an option in the UK for lifetime map updates yet as there is for the Garmin models, which is a big negative point as far as ongoing cost is concerned.
Are TomTom going to make lifetime map updates available in the UK in the very near future to help me keep TomTom models on my shopping list? _________________ Garmin 2569LMT-D s/w 8.80 + Western Europe map 2019.10

You'd have to ask TomTom why only North Americans get the opportunity to have Lifetime Maps on many models, but not Europeans. _________________ David |

Have been on to TomTom UK about Lifetime Map updates and got the following disappointing response:
"We do not yet have a date when the Lifetime Map Update Service you are asking about will be available.
For further information of when our products are available, please ensure that you have registered to receive the Newsletter via your account. Please click on Support / My Profile and tick the options to receive the Newsletter.
You will be notified by e-mail of when our latest products, maps and services will be launched."
So waiting for the Garmin 2595LMT to become available in the new year and will probably jump ship like many others if TomTom haven't got their act together with something like an "825LMT" in the UK by then. _________________ Garmin 2569LMT-D s/w 8.80 + Western Europe map 2019.10

I think you'll be waiting a very long time before TomTom intoduce this to the UK. They charge us for updates because they can & they're not going to throw away this revenue source without good reason, regardless of how meagre it actually is! _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

I'm certainly not holding my breath on this one. I do wonder how long TomTom will stick without an inclusive map update option given the competition from Garmin. I guess it depends on how many people switch away from TomTom to Garmin - if TT volumes drop I guess at some point they will have to bite the bullet to try and regain market share in the UK. _________________ Garmin 2569LMT-D s/w 8.80 + Western Europe map 2019.10

Common sense and customer service has never been a TomTom strong point so in the face of a falling market share they are more likely to simply drop more features and incease prices in order to recoup lost profits ![Shocked](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif) |

Sounds like a downward spiral to put themselves out of the UK business altogether! _________________ Garmin 2569LMT-D s/w 8.80 + Western Europe map 2019.10

Tomtom already have most of the UK market I would say.
I only know one person that has a Garmin, and he got that free.
Why give stuff away when people are prepared to pay? It is not good business strategy. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

I just don't understand why they have 4 updates a year 3 would be better 2 would be ideal + then they could have some data about correct speeds which also gets reset back to old versions unless you make a mistake _________________ TomTom 5001 |

I see I have an email offer for 2 years of updates for £33.75 but even then you have the cost of live services every year to take into account.
Only UK & Republic Of Ireland and I have a 1005.

The last couple of renewals I've taken out for map updates has been 6 for the price of 4, which works out at £13.20 pa (UK & RoI) which I don't think is too bad, although I'd still welcome lifetime updates. |

If it was free I would be satisfied with one update a year. But why would TT want that? Loose thier revenue, it would make them cry big time. ![Smile](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

The more updates per year the better in my opinion.
That will ensure that either you have the latest map, or that if you don't have the latest, then it will not be a long wait until the next new one. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

I agree, monthly updates would be good, weekly great - and daily, on the fly updates perfect _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Hmmm... I had an e-mail from TomTom yesterday offering the most recent map (which I've already got) and then 12 months of updates for £33.75 - based upon a ROI map.
The two years of updates for the same price sounds like a very good deal. |
