shame - you'd think a removable unit with a usb connector must be do-able!
Maybe someone cleverer than us will work it out |

Had a dig around and all the files are encoded - I can post some of them up here if needed but not sure if adding speed cameras is possible I don't see a way of doing it.... _________________ Audi S4

Emailed Becker - they say this isn't possible and didn't answer my follow up question of do they plan to....
So bought a Brodit iPhone mount for my Mercedes and plan to use the pocketgps camera app instead _________________ Audi S4

This is one for fellow Merc owners:
If we can't add cameras to the Becker, can I make the audio for my HTC (running the camera App) through the Audio 20 stereo via Bluetooth?? |

Just replying to my own post!
I had a poke around in the data files yesterday and it would APPEAR that the Becker software and file format is based on 'EB Street Director' by Electrobit.com http://www.street-director.de .
Maybe PocketGPSWorld.com could try and pursuade Electrobit to let them have a copy of their POI database creator:
http://www.eb-streetdirector-blog.com/eb-street-director/tools/psf-creator/
Any chances of that?
There doesn't seem to be anything you can download from their website as a trial, so I couldn't have a look. |

Hi
Just waiting for my B class 200cdi sport to come.
still got 10 weeks:(
Any updates on the poi situation yet.
My tomtom 940 is playing up. possible problem with the connector.
So bought the becker sat nav off ebay for less than £200 brand new.
Just to use the big screen.
It would be nice to use pocket gps with the sat nav.
please some one cleverer then me have a look.
Heres hoping

Stick with your tomtom 1005.
My B class came last week.
Fitted the map pilot. Not as easy to use as the tomtom, No Favourites. Takes hours to update, If it does. It took me several go's to do it and not even sure if it Has. My family bought me a 1005 as a birthday present two weeks ago. Because my 940 finally gave up.
I only paid £200 for my Map pilot. they paid £229 from amazon with a £50 fuel back promo for the 1005 europe. There is no contest even at the price I paid let alone the nearly £500 that mercedes want for the map pilot.
The 1005 if far better.

Thanks for the heads up Pete. How have you mounted the 1005 on the B Class and have you found a way of playing it through the car speakers.
Out of interest, and very off topic, how long did you wait for your B Class? _________________ TT for IOS

Hi
I tried the blue tooth on the tomtom. It was not seen by the bluetooth in the car.
Have given up really on the Map pilot. I tried on sunday when I went to retford. I ran both the 1005 and the map pilot side by side.
The tomtom saw a build up of traffic and changed the route to save time. The map pilot did not know of the traffic. It also tried to take me down a farmers track. The map is out of date really. There is a shopping centre near me and it has been there about 3 years. the roads have changed in the area. But the map pilot still has the old roads. Even the dual carriage way to our local Ikea is not there, Ikea has only been there 5 years.
Also I finally updated the system with the help of the Becker customer services. which is an 0800 number. They were very good. Dont know what they would be like if they sold as many sat navs that tomtom have.
However it would be better if you could add poi(cameras) and favourites. Perhaps trying to follow a tomtom 940 with HD traffic is a hard thing to to do.
I will keep looking to see if anyone works it out.
The main problem with the tomtom is its portability. The wife can borrow it
