|
|
My 940 is now 3 years old and uses the original battery. It's still capable of holding a charge but given I would like to continue using this for as long as possible would it be a sensible move to replace the battery in the event that battery leakage occurs onto the PCB and prematurely breaks my 940?
I've seen the YOUTUBE clips for replacement and I'm quite happy to do this myself.
Any recommendations for a quality replacement battery? _________________ TT GO 1005 |

My take on this FWIW is that if the battery still holds its charge, then leave it alone. Others may have a different opinion.
People have broken their TTs whilst trying to change the battery. The last comment was not meant as casting aspersions about your battery changing abilities. |

I'm in agreement with M8TJT. If it ain't broke, leave well alone. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I would leave it alone for the time being its rare to see a battery inside a TomTom that has sprung a leak.
The Live products all use a battery with a five pin connector these are very difficult to source, usually you cut the lead off the old battery and solder it to the new one.
Removal of the battery in the x40/ x50 is actually easier than the earlier devices as its attached to the rear case rather than being glued to the PCB, but its still quite a teardown to get at it - Mike |
