PeterB kindly directed me to the site to download the postcodes database for my TT2.
However, I have been attempting to get this to work but I keep getting an error messgae saying that there is not enough memory.
I am using a HP2210 with a 128mb SD. I have the GB maps loaded plus the camera database and checkpoint to run that.
Do I need a bigger SD card or am I doing something wrong? |

i had this problem when using a 128mb sd card.
even after formatting the card it only showed 120mb so somewhere it is losing 8mb.
firstly, use storage tools to see how much space you have and format the card.
http://www.softwinter.com/storagetools.html
after that, i had to put some of the tomtom gear in the main memory then the rest on the sd card and got postcodes to run like that.
i will of coarse get a 256mb card and you can pick then up on e-bay for £15. |

128MB should be plenty to install the UK Map (96MB) and the PostCode Database (11MB).
120MB is the correct available storage space on a memory card, as with all storage devices some space is given over to File Allocation Tables etc and so the true available space is less than the stated capacity.
How much free space do you have reported on your storage card? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well I checked the SD momory last night and it showed 4mb spare, but I havn't been able to load on both of the postcode files.
The one posctcode file that has loaded =18.6mb
I need to run checkpoint for the speed camera database so do I have enough space for TT2/Checkpoint/Speed camera DB and the postcode DB on the 120mb available.
If not how do I do what Moggy suggested and lose some of the TT2 stuff into the main memory? |

UKPostCode's Database is 11MB in size not 18MB? The Speed Camera POI is of negligible size and the UK Map is actually 105MB
As long as the TomTom application was installed to main memory which is where it is supposed to be (did you install it to the memory card by any chance?) then you can't move any other part of the TomTom map off the memory card. You could remove the full UK Map and install the North or South Sectional Map (64Mb) which may suffice.
On your memory card you have the GB Map folder containing the full UK Mpa and POI file, what other files or folders appear on the card? _________________ Darren Griffin |

You're quite correct, UKPostCode Database is 11MB compressed and 18Mb expanded. You also appear to have some duplicate Safety Camera databases, you should delete the pocketgps_uk_sc and POCKETGPS_UK-SC entries.
Additionally the TTN_Control_arm.cab file should not be there, if you double click it from Explorer on the PPC it auto-installs and then deletes itself, the fact that it exists means it hasn't been installed!
Given the above I suspect the 128MB card is not large enough to allow installation of the PostCode Database. You could perhaps start afresh by deleting everything except the map folder and it's files and removing any POI files that you installed but it would be a lot simpler to invest in a larger storage card _________________ Darren Griffin |

From the original download of the postcodes database it appears that the compressed file size is 11mb, but the unzippped DAT file alone is 18mb? |

please ignore my last post as I hadn't read your reply.
I think you are right it looks like a new 256 card will be the answer.
Thanks for your help. |
