Shame they don't get the stuff to do with navigation right before they start to introduce something that will probably have a more negative effect on road safety than talking on a phone

Whilst I'm not condoning the features, you won't be able to Tweet whilst driving. But you can configure it with your Twitter account details so you can press a button to have your location sent as a Tweet or to announce your arrival. Nice to see innovation in the PND market would be my reaction, after all we can all drink and drive, txt or phone whilst driving, enter destinations, etc... which is no difference to tweeting or booking a table at a restaurant - we just have to make sensible decisions, and just because of the minority of fools, we shouldn't choose not to introduce new features _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

I don't see much point in adding this sort of capability to a Nav unit, lets face it its got nothing to do with Navigation.
It has been quite some time now since TomTom dropped a number of features from their product range due to thm being non Nav related such as the mp3 player, document viewer, picture viewer etc, now they start to add crap back in to devices that are currently worse off in terms of features than the older x20/ x30 & 940.
Even with the system locked down so it can't be used while driving "other than to send a tweet of your present position" well that very action will require interaction with the device taking the drivers eye off the road, remember no remote control these days. I simply don't see the point, they should be looking at enhancing the on road specific capabilities rather then turning the nav unit in to a smart phone with no call related capability built in, whats next a Go-1000 derivative you can use as a mobile phone - Mike

While these services won't be of interest to me, I think for maybe my parents who don't and won't use smartphones, but will get out the satnav when visiting less known parts, it would be handy to find a decent restaurant, etc. nearby their destination or location - and read reviews of it
Never know, they may end up tweeting to let me know they've arrived safely!
So while I agree it is not for everyone, it does have its advantages and ultimately if it sells some more PNDs that can only be a good thing, as companies will continue to invest in the software platform as a whole, rather than switch to smartphone apps, which for me just don't cut it _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600
