from reading around it seems that putting the app into foreground stops it being killed off.

That's what I am not so sure about - you bring the application to the foreground, but that is not really important, as it is not connected to the service. Who knows what the operating system thinks about this... _________________ Lutz

I've also experienced this issue on 2.3.3 - I posted a new topic here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=87453 Which I guess can be closed now.
Interesting about having the app in the foreground, as I had the app displaying when it has happened to me. I didn't have Google Nav or any other nav software running.
Going off topic, but I've had the same thing when trying out Waze last week. _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

I don't believe there is any use in adding to this subject as it seems to have died. The only response I had in the end was asking me to kill all running apps one by one until the problem stopped. I don't have the time to do that so am looking at other alternatives such as stand-alone solutions eg Road-Angel which I used in the past and which never let me down. It might be argued that the cost is much greater - what is the cost, then, of speeding fines and points on one's driving licence? |

I have had this problem for ages and can not find a solution for it.
I am also running 2.3.3 but I am sure that this has happened to my in all 2.3.x versions.
It is also just not when google maps is running as it crashes when I am running copilot 9 as well.
I am going to flash a 2.3.4 this weekend so hopefully it will start working as expected.
I have downloaded EZcam which links to the PGPS database and it works well (doesn't crash) but it just doesn't seem as polished / professional as camera alert, so I would love to get it working. |

Possibly EZcam have a smaller memory footprint, and may be a lesser candidate for jettisoning. But hey, what do I know... _________________ Lutz

I made a longer than usual journey and CamerAlert died on me with the "no loger want" log entry.
Having paid for the subscription, and not wanting to waste it, I thought I would have a closer look at the issue on my Galaxy S (Gingerbread 2.3.3), Could be a long wait for the fix on Android 3.. on Tmobile.
I uninstalled "Battery Mix", because someone had mentioned they had it and the problem, and I then changed some CA settings and the one that made the difference was:
Prevent standby (unchecked),
and I then run CA and fired up GoogleNav over the top of it. No problems, had it running overnight on my windowsill.
I can repeat this failure just by enabling "Prevent Standby"
Reinstalled Battery Mix and I did have a CA crash whilst unplugging the charging lead, but couldn't repeat it, more investigation required. Restarted CA and it has now been running for two hours.
Also had a CA crash when I disconnected my BT speakerphone (again not repeatable), , more investigation required. |

Would you mind sending the crash logs nevertheless? _________________ Lutz
