|
|
Now that the A3 Hindhead tunnel is open, will the re-routing alter on tomtom units as this project was started about 4years ago so will tomtom have it showing on their maps now?. They have had plenty of time to do this? Also the travel times will be quicker aswell.
They also have average speed cameras inside the tunnel (no gps signals).

The 940 and similar models with EPS will still give speed camera warnings when the GPS signal is dropped. _________________ Drivelux |

I'D say give TT at least 2-3 years before this appears in their maps! |

Can someone give me the exact location (In decimal co-ordinates) and I will see if is on the latest maps and if not, i`ll send TT a message about the missing new road!

Old road still on the Route planner from TT and showing road works for 10 Km - says it all really. _________________ TT520 running App 8.351 & map UK&I v845.26345

Tomtom route planner does not always have the latest map on it, ironically! Just like after a new map is released, Google maps do not have the latest TT/TA map on display for a while after.
Can someone with the latest (v8.70) maps confirm that this new tunnel is definitely not on the map?

This has been raised in another threadhere and apparently the new route has been in the latest map for a while already. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I traveled around that area about two months ago, and not only was the new road indicated but the device was telling me to take it even though it was not opened yet; and to make matters even more silly, the old road which I was travelling on had disappeared from the map! It had me driving through fields? |

Tomtom are damned if they do, and damned if they don't aren't they?!?
Maps come out every 3 months, so there is always going to be a period of time from when the new road opens and the map is updated.
Take this new Hindhead road. It has now opened, and Tomtom added the road to the latest map v8.70 which was released about 6 weeks ago. Now the next map is due out in about 6 weeks time.
So what do Tomtom do? Release v8.70 map without the new bypass and have 6 weeks of incorrect routing before the v8.75 map comes out? Or do as they have done, and add the new bypass to the v8.70 map and have 6 weeks at the beginning of incorrect routing?

I agree, by the comments here, releasing a map with a road due for release is not good enough, nor is the road not being on the map the moment it is opened (regardless of if a map update has been released or not)
Crazy situation, and it just goes to show what companies are up against today
No wonder sometimes they just let comments from users go over their heads, when you get impossible comments like this! _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Hey, don't shoot the messenger! I wasn't complaining, just commenting on what I saw. Having said that, why was the original road erased from the Map? It has a few turn offs so surely it will remain in place after the new road is fully operational? What if my destination was on one of those turn offs? How would I know where I was? My job entails driving to and from places I've never even heard of, let alone knowing the local topography. |
