Just renewed my HD Traffic for £35.32 from Amazon. Everything now works OK but what a daft way method using a sticky scratch card to give the activation code. I almost scraped off the letters due to the stickiness of the cover and had to "guess" 1 letter! The instructions are a bit vague too - I initially forgot to log off after activation and then log back in and "Operate my Device" to Change Preferences!
So, I've shown faith and fingers crossed that TT get their act together and get the HD Traffic back to normal.
Cheers, jack. |

I ordered mine for £33.72 and it arrived 24 hours later via Prime.
I firstly checked on my remaining months on my device (2 months)
A couple of people had complained about vague instructions so I read the instructions very carefully.
I read the 'English' instructions so found the whole process very simple. Start HOME, scrape off the foil and type in the number. How 'vague' is that?
I then went back to my device again to see I now had 14 months remaining . . . . . Simples |

Bumping this! My Live Services has expired, and TT want an extortionate £47.50 to renew for 12 months! Bearing in mind they offer the HD Traffic for £23 on the iPhone (of which Apple take 30%) I have been in contact with support asking why it is so expensive for people who have bought a TomTom PND and the response is basically "Tough"
Have looked on Amazon and they're now charging £70 for the pre-paid scratch card! Does anyone know of a cheaper source for this or (given the issues that plague the service) am I better off just listening to local radio and doing any re-routing manually? |

A quick search shows currently lowest price to be £40.84 http://tinyurl.com/6jwa6n7 - Amazon currently £50.55. |

It is not quite that simple. Your iPhone will be using data you are paying for each month. The TomTom Live Units use TomToms (Vodafone s) data service which has to be paid for on top of the service charges

I went to TomTom website to buy 12 months Live services which was £47.50. Just as I was about to buy I remembered that when I registered my Go550 in February I received a welcome email with a voucher for £8.00, so I entered the code and paid £39.50.
Then all I had to do was turn on my Go550
Tap on map to enter the Main Menu
Tap on Change preferences
Tap on My TomTom account
Login with my TomTom account
Done. _________________ Brian

But that data usage doesn't cost anywhere near £30 a year! Look at the Kindle Keyboard 3g which comes with free data FOR LIFE (also with Voda).
The data element will have been paid for IN FULL UP FRONT when the device was manufactured and will not be a run-on cost whenever you renew live services. The SIM will be set up to never expire on the voda side and the data is restricted to TomTom's walled garden (i.e. no nicking the sim and sticking it in your usb 3g dongle).
Having worked for a large multinational mobile phone provider you would be surprised at how little stuff like this costs when you're buying in bulk.
Having spoken to someone at TT they have assured me that the price is fixed at a level to be competitive with other PND traffic providers. Which sounds to me like price fixing "you can't go anywhere else so pay what we ask or buy another PND!" |

If you're not paying for the data traffic then maybe it's a charge for the upkeep of their ever crashing servers. |
