they already do? all fixed cameras (truvelo, gatso, monitron) are treated the same.
if there is another camera closeby then the all clear will not sound until you have passed both though - perhaps this is your issue with Truvelo's?

Nope. No other cameras for miles.
A lone Truvelo, still elicits an All Clear delayed by the same time after it as does a Gatso. However as soon as you have gone past a Truvelo, by definition of how the camera works, it must be "All Clear".
Simple question, can the All Clear delay time be made intelligent to differentiate between the different way the cameras work?

Ah, OK, I misunderstood what you were asking! To be honest I doubt it's something we will be doing. But I'll let Lutz have the final say!

My first use of CA was in France and Italy on motorways where there were not many cameras, but I have now used it in the UK and had a few thoughts:
1. I often got a false alarm from a camera in an adjacent road. This was pretty obvious when it was a 30 limit and I was on the M6 and a quick glance at the map showed some others were not on my road. Would it be possible to include a button or some other way to turn off the warnings for these cameras ? Alternatively could the software sense that you were on a fairly straight road and travelling at a constant 70 so a 30 camera aheaqd would be unlikely ?
2. Would it also be possible to vary the alert according to speed so you had the same amount of warning time for different speeds. A 30mph camera warning is too far away, 70 mph seems about right.
3. Would it make sense to allow the user to set a percentage variance on the speed e.g. 10% so that a 70mph alert would only sound if you were above 77mph ? aiui there is a certain amount of leeway built in, so this could be allowed for ?
I'm sure there are lots of considerations that haven't occurred to me and I realise that it is more important to miss no warnings at all and put up with false alarms, but these ideas might be useful.
As a retired software designer and developer (anyone remember TI 99/4A Soccer module?), I'm very impressed with this app and found it very useful.
Thanks and keep up the good work... Rog |

Rog,
1. Sorry, there's not much we can do. You could be doing 70 in a 30 mph zone with a camera just around the bend for all we know. Our app has no idea of streets. All we have are static map tiles.
2. That is current functionality. you always get warned x seconds before the camera, regardless of your speed.
3. No. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the reply.
1. That's not quite what I meant. I realise that it would be very tough for the software to spot it's an adjacent road. What I was asking for is for the user to be able to cancel a warning that s/he recognises is spurious, say by tapping the screen where the camera is shown.
2. ooops, must pay closer attention
3. OK. Is this a legal thing ?

do you want us to remember that decision? Like "don't ever warn me of that camera again"? or would it be ok to get warned again when you pass by it the next time, or re-download the database? _________________ Lutz

In my case I would just like it to cancel the warning and not remember the decision, but I guess someone else who travels the same route every day to work and gets that warning every time would want the decision remembered.
Maybe a popup asking if you want to remember it, that cancels itself after a few seconds in a not-remembered state, but that's getting more and more complicated...

i think that tapping the red banner could be used to 'silence THAT warning' but only for that instance. i.e. next time you drive you can tap it to shut it up.

That would be perfect for me. Thanks to you both for considering this - whether it makes it into the product... I know all about the pressures on software development

Great App! Here are my suggestions for improvement - hope that some or all can find their way into a future release.
1. I know it's been asked and refused already, but I would really love to be able to specify a % overspeed tolerance for 70mph zones. As long as this was an option disabled by default I'm not sure why it wouldnt' be a good idea?
2. Definitely support the request to allow an alert to be muted by tapping on the screen etc.
3. Can the relative volume of the alerts be configurable, please? If I'm playing audio from my phone through the car's bluetooth connection the alarms are truly deafening when they go off, and combined with the inability to mute them it's quite dangerous currently
4. The facility to warn when the camera database is out of date is great, but I'd love an option to automatically download the latest version when a new one is available, to save me from having to do it manually each time.
Keep up the great work!
thanks

Apart from any programming etc considerations, I wouldn't want us to encouraging users to exceed the National Speed Limit. _________________ Dennis
