I got a strange message on my 940 Live today. It seemed to be a privacy message, white text on the standard blue background, relating to tracking me - I think. I don't recall every line in detail that came up, it was very wordy and was driving at the time it came up.
Anyone know what this is about and how/why I got selected ? |

It's a standard request asking if you will allow ANONYMOUS usage data (travel times) to be sent back to TomTom when you connect to Home (or via the LIVE connection if your model supports it).
I'm not sure why you got it popping up when it did, but I seem to remember it appears after a factory reset or after installing a software update. I've also seen it appear at seemingly random periods.
You can turn off the collection of the travel time data in Home itself.
In the TomTom HOME menu bar, click Tools / HOME Preferences. and at the bottom of the screen is the option to Enable or Disable collection of anonymous usage statistics.
Here's what TomTom say about it:
Quote: | Travel time data collection
TomTom only collects anonymous travel time information from a navigation device. We aggregate this information and use it for a variety of applications, most importantly to create high quality traffic information and to route you around traffic jams. We are also able to deduct whether new roads were built and quickly amend our maps accordingly. Reliable travel time information is essential for good routing assistance.
If you are using a LIVE device, you receive traffic information in real time and you automatically contribute to generating traffic information. We make all traffic data anonymous. We can never trace it back to you or your device.
