Methinks the word 'not' is missing from the topic title. |

Indeed...
So the question remains, what on Earth was the TT customer services droid on about?! _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Home still asks me if I want to buy "Tomtom safety cameras europe - 1 year subscription", but the Enable safety alerts icon is greyed out since the "upgrade".
I am very reluctant to give them any money for the camera info if there is not the function on the device.
This makes me think that Tomtom may have sneakily disabled it as part of the "upgrade".
Speed limits info still works when driving, but camera alerts does not.
Camera files appear to still be on the device.
Very puzzled by all this.
spook51, the title is right, that is what he told me. |

Did the icon go grey on your device, or did the files just vanish?? |

Don't buy it anyway - "not functioning" is better then "functioning" where TT camera database is concerned! Compared with pgpsw's CamerAlert is like chalk and cheese. Honestly! I have TT cameras on my live services on my GO550 and compare them with CamerAlert every day. Three points - 1. Their database is seriously inaccurate. 2. You can't tell what they are warning for because they are not consistent with the identity of what they are warning for (I have 12 or 13 different sounds selected for all their different categories and I often get the same warning sound for what seems to be different camera types - I regularly get the same warning for what should be three different types. 3. You can't tell what they are warning for because you don't get the speed displayed. It is possible with some seriously considered work, to get the pgpsw CamerAlert database on the XL2, but really, if you can take it back for a refund, do so and get a refurbished GO550 (UK & ROI) or GO750 (Europe). _________________ Dennis

Only the refurb 750 is currently for sale.
Off Topic: see that at the bottom of the list TT is offering a refurb iphone mount. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I have just spoken to TT customer services in UK (was previously talking to the US one - based in Mexico - due to weekend and time difference).#
This guy seemed to know his stuff and has offered some advice which I will try tonight, will let you all know how it went later. |

I've bought a GO 540 with 6 months live services from tomtom_outlet_store on ebay. £109.99 + £6 p&p.
Seems pretty good, although it is a refurb unit. The description sounds pretty good tbh. Just unsure what map version is on it.
Maybe to OP could check this seller out.
Cheers

Problem solved!!!! :-)
The UK customer services guy did it.
He just told me to reload the camera info (and enabled it for me on Home) - sometimes it vanishes when a new map is loaded.
I'm not sure what the crew in Mexico were talking about, but I'll leave any comments to the guys on Top Gear.
It sounds like it is a major hassle to install this site's database on this particular model, never mind, the TT info will do for me.
Thanks for all comments. |

We'll still be here when you get your ticket. We'll be sympathetic too - well, everybody else will, but I will remind you (in the nicest possible taste) of the three points I posted above about the TT cameras. _________________ Dennis

Jeepers, you must get up early! I've struggled with that for several minutes. _________________ Dennis

I get up when the little hand 'points to six' and the big hand 'points to twelve', then I know it's game over and time to get up! |

Ah, that must be where I'm going wrong - I get up after Vera brings me a coffee in bed. _________________ Dennis
