Hi,
Lets consider the following situation:
There are 2 Magellan Meridian GPS receivers and one of them has a map on the SD card. Is it possible to copy this map to another SD card to use on the second Meridian GPS receiver?
And the 2nd question:
Is it possible to connect a Meridian GPS receiver to a computer and to copy the contents of the SD card to the computer's hard disc (for backup purposes)?
Thank you in advance! |

My Meridan color has a serial number on the formated on the card so that when I use the Topo UK software it is handed to the GPS. The Topo UK software does however download the software to the SD card via a USB reader very quickly and will load a copy to the hard drive for future use. Not sure this is a complete answer but it might help.
I'd like to work out how to get more than one map onto my 128Mb SD card so I can select the area I want to use but that's another issue.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand what did you say about serial number. Can you please explain it in more detail for what purposes the Meridian's serial number is used?
Thanks |

To progman,
When I use the Mapsend Topo UK software, at the point of uploading a map to the gps or directly to the SD card, the software shows a screen which indicates the serial number of the gps to receive the data.
As I only use the one gps this has little impact on me but you appear to have the option to select from devices if you have more than one.
The downloads can take a long time if you upload to the gps, be sure to have a good battery of run from an external supply. The fastest way is to use a card reader, slip in the SD card and the job is done in no time. This does wipe out the previous map data, not the base map. For an example, the Derbyshire area covered by the OL1 and OL24 maps is about 16Mb.
I'm still trying to work out how to get more than one map onto my card?
Hope this helps.
