Bought a Garmin Nuvi 250W from Amazon last week. First long journey it froze three times.

I went back to Amazon who imediately sent a pre-paid postage label. Their returns system is superb.

Ordered a TT720 from Amazon last Wed and it arrived 0900 the following day. I was shell shocked because it was by Royal Mail as well. Smile

Was expecting at least a 5 day turn around.

Not had to send it back yet mind, don't want to either because I like it.

I bought a Tom Tom 730T in August 2008 it started playing up last month I contacted Tom Toms Technical Support on line they replied with some suggestions and was informed that after the third instruction if that was not effective to email them again I did this immediately and I waited nearly 10 days for a response in the meantime I got fed up waiting and contacted my supplier Amazon explained the situation to them and they immediately offered me a refund and they sent me a pre paid returns label online absolutely fantastic service and from my experience I would recommend them to any one

I've done a lot of shopping with Amazon since I first posted and have had to return one further item. Once again, superb service.

However, a word of warning. Amazon allow other traders to use their site and I bought an item through the Amazon site from a firm called Simply Electronics.

They give an address in Nottingham close to where I live. They also give a Nottingham telephone number but you can never get anything other than a recorded message. The address is actually a bungalow where a guy forwards their mail to where they are based in Hong Kong. They are advertising stuff , particularly cameras, that they don't have in stock.

I've told Amazon about this and they appear to have removed them from their list of suppliers.

yeah, that's called "Amazon Marketplace", in conventional shop terms it's their way of granting a concession stand to other businesses, but it does appear to have a couple of holes in the process. Never the less, I can't fault Amazon themselves; I've been using them on and off over the last couple of years, and never had cause to complain once - That's outstanding, considering the volume of sales they process!

Another thumbs up for Amazon from here. Placed loads of orders with them over the years and only had one "issue" to date which was promptly and courteously dealt with to my satisfaction.

Also dealt with a few of the Amazon marketplace traders and so far so good. Tend to treat dealings with them like I do with traders on Ebay. I look at what feedback have they received against what turnover. I agree though with the general sentiment that it is a bit more of a gamble than dealing direct with Amazon.

I bought a Nikon lens from one of Amazon's traders recently. When I checked the serial number, it turned out to be a grey import.

I had a hell of a job returning is and Amazon weren't interested saying it wasn't fulfilled by Amazon.

I eventually put the world's worst feedback on and they immediately got in touch asking me to remove the feedback. It was then that I got a refund.

Slight change on my original opinion, probably because Amazon seem to be reliant a lot more on Market Place sellers, but I have had two problem items from third party sellers the first a faulty laptop PSU which the seller replaced immediately and did not want the old returned, The second replaced a epad that froze and even enclosed £7 cash for my postage (unrequested), so all third pary sellers not bad, I buy more stuff from amazon now than the high street sellers, even 37" TV saving over £120 over Argos, i did worry over that one but been fine.
