Hi,
I have installed the iphone app, registered for database updates, updated the database and allowed the app to have access to location services.
I have had this app running on my dashboard for more than 30mins with no blue logo in the top right hand corner. I know the GPS is working because the blue dot is moving along on the map.
There should be no problem with getting a fix, as I have used other devices in my car with no problem.
Any help on this would be great!! |

Which model device (3G, 3GS, 4, iPad, iPad 2) are you using? and which version of iOS?
When you say you get the blue dot moving on the map is that the map in CamerAlert? and when you say there's no blue icon in the corner, i presume you have the red one instead as opposed to nothing?

I've only just got an iPhone 3G. I've downloaded the app and the GPS Statur App one too.
It always seems to be reporting "Bad Fix", but is doesn show the correct street name and postcode.
Does it matter which way up the phone is in the cradle for optimum GPS reception?
Thanks |

it's nicer if the home button is at the bottom, but generally it's not really that important. You will want to place the phone in a spot where it has a chance at viewing at least part of the sky. The GPS receiver on the 3G is not exactly brilliant, so it needs a little positioning help.
Is the cradle plastic or metal? _________________ Lutz

It's just a cheap plastic cradle from eBay.
I'll try it outide of the vehicle in an open area to see if it improves.
thanks |

Check that you have Location Services enabled for CamerAlert in iPhone Settings. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I've been using the App for a week while visiting a diffent county so all camera location are unknown to me.
The App has prooved very useful and I like the Avg speed camera mode too.
Silly question, but why doesn't the app keep the map data its downloaded? |

Because Google do not permit their map data to be cached. _________________ Darren Griffin |
