Error 1001? - Have you tried the complete battery discharge method listed as mentioned in this thread? - worked for me! |

My great response from tomtom support
I understand that you received error 1001 while trying to access LIVE services on your TomTom GO 940 device.
Please be assured that we will try our best to assist you and provide the correct information.
I am sorry to hear that you have experienced error 1001 when trying to access LIVE services on your LIVE device.
This is an issue that we are aware of and urgently working to resolve. You may be able to access LIVE services later as it is an intermittent server issue.
Our technical team is working diligently to resolve the issue and provide a suitable resolution. This being a technical issue, a specific time frame can not be given. |

So at least they recognised the fault code as their server error, not your device. That's actually good news for you. just be patient.
Another thing is it seemed to be a dodgy sim card connection too as at least once you'd removed/refitted that at least you could get as far as "server error" |

Be wary. Looks like a copy and paste job, and the "no time frame" is lovely as it stops you pestering them for some time. Given that it is not widespread, I'd want to know more about why this affects just you, and what aspect of the server it affects. |

yes exactly, i think its just the usual fob off tomtom do. trying the power down option as this seems to have resolved others with this fault. |

All i can say is give that man a cigar, unless your a woman, in that case can i have your number. Seriously many thanks "robbooth" you have saved my bacon, and my TomTom.
Let the unit disipate all its power, left it over night. Drove 30 miles the next day, turned it on and there you go all working.
Many thanks to all who replied. |

No problem, I know how frustrating it can be owning a TT!
Mine's a pint rather than cigar but just glad it got you sorted; The real thanks should go to Claude and Dave for providing the info in the original thread.

It is the technical equivalent of a homeopathic remedy. Nobody is quite sure how it works, but just being downloaded at the same time as your device is connected to your computer seems to produce results. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Dont believe it. Everything was fine yesterday, went out last night had no traffic bar. All this morning no tarffic bar.
Checked "staus&info-version-network", all four fields are populated, good. went to "my tomtom account" and i get a red screen "somthing wrong with SIM card" but this time its "error code 1008"
Surely this is TomTom's end. ANy ideas ??? |

1008 is normally a temp glitch with their server. |
