Hi guys, bought a Navman 475 the other day.
I'm using the miomore desktop 7.30.
The problem I'm having is getting my custom POI's to appear on the map screen.
I've downloaded POI's from pwgps and chose the National Trust POI and installed them following the instructions on here and the miomore desktop.
Trouble is when I move the map around the icons do not appear on the screen.
I've read on here somewhere about making sure the icons are 8bit and i've done that and made sure they were, but still no joy.
I've downloaded a free camera database from another provider and tried that and still nothing.
This morning I went online before leaving for work, booted up POI Editor program and added a "made up" point on my route to work.
This never showed up either even by selecting an 8bit image icon.
All the files i've used have been in the CSV format.
Still nothing... Sad

Any idea's guys where i'm going wrong??? Confused

Would really like to use the pwgps camera database on my navman but there's no use in subscribing if I can't get CSV points of interest files appearing on my unit.

Please HELP Confused

Regards

Lee

Hi,
I don't think this range can display custom POI's on its map screen.

My 575 still has the provided camera database on but I did find with more than 15 category's of POI's loaded the screen update will be late or not happen at all.

It would seem to me that I've bought a lemon, I've contacted their customer support and asked the question.
Why have the option to add poi's on a device and when you do as per their manual/guidance they don't show up!!!

Should never have got rid of my Tom Tom XL, you could fully customise that unit.

Will await the response from Navman customer service.....

The process appears to be correct.
During the software update was there any errors? It may be worth reinstalling the software.

I don't recall seeing any errors, when I plugged it in and registered, it removed the Europe map and installed the latest uk map.
Funnily enough, Navman customer serv replied and suggested that I format the unit and in mio more desktop re-install the software.
Not tried that as yet but they too said the process was correct.
What do you guys think re formatting the unit?

If you do re-format the device make sure you copy & paste all the files on the device to a backup folder on your PC.

From what they told me, the device.xml file must be on the device otherwise the desktop software will not talk to it / identify it.

Thanks Hummeruk.

Did you use the backup option on the mio more desktop or did you just open the device up and copy all the files to a folder?

Does your device work ok now after you did it?

Cheers

I backed it up both ways, the Mio way and my way Smile

And yes my device still works.

Still No Joy
I've looked on several forums now, all to no avail...
I've made sure the bitmap image is 22 x 22, i've made sure its saved in 256 colour mode.
Still does not show the icon on the map.
If I search by keywords i find it, when i click show on screen it takes me right to the spot where i created the poi file....... But still no icon Evil or Very Mad

Any idea's guys????????????

If you format the device , then diconnect from the PC it will automatically create the device.xml file.
The latest install file from the device I have been offered is available from: http://download.mio.com/ServicePack/SmartST/Mio/SmartST_Spirit475_%20v7_00_0515.exe
and the service pack for the MioMore Desktop is available from: http://download.mio.com/ServicePack/Desktop/Mio/MioMore_v7_30_0005_SP.exe

Cheers for the info Captaindrift, tried that and still no joy.
Does anyone have any links out there to proven icons that work on the 475?
