Do you think £29.90 is a good price for 2 years of updates? |

It's a good price but many would argue that a new map every 3 months is a bit over-the-top and also many don't see any new roads etc in their areas anyway.
Your call but the price is right. |

If you consider that one new map downloaded costs £10 more than that, it's a no-brainer.
Providing it will work for your device - according to the TomTom website, it's only for devices less than 90 days old. _________________ Dennis

And if you own a 1000 or 1005 of any age it's not known if these cards will ever be of any use. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

Don't know if it applies to the cards you mention, but TomTom have updated their MyTomTom support page to include
Activating promotions (service cards, etc)
Currently this functionality is not available for your device.
Updated :You can now use the map update service card. _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

The price for the 24 month map update service is at Halfords
I have one of these cards. The only rule is that it must be used within 90 days of purchasing the device. As per the above, TomTom have now said that these cards are compatible with the latest devices. Sure enough the option to enter the code is now available on the website and it correctly acknowledges the ability to enter the code related to my device and serial number.
However it does NOT work for me with my Live 1005. I have a support call opened with TomTom. The error message is
"The activation code you have entered cannot be used due to incompatibility with the installed application version."
That is such a strange error as it is not saying its the device that is not compatible, but the application. Naturally I have the latest 10.111 and map version v865 |

Have Tomtom given any concession on the 90 day limit for Go 10xx devices which were not compatible with this service for more than 90 days after purchase? _________________ Tomtom Go 1005

Hi,
Just had this conversation with Tomtom Web Chat support. My GO 1000 LIVE was purchased in October 2010.
Tomtom Support says that it will honour these cards for the GO 1000 device if purchased now as the issues were at there end previously. Below is the transcript of the chat:
Scot Y. (UK): Hi, my name is Scot Y. (UK). How may I help you?
Me: Hi There.
Me: UK retailer Halfords is selling a 2 yr Map Update card at a good price. However it states it's only suitable for new devices registered in the last 90 days.
Me: I've a GO LIVE 1000 purchased in October 2010.
Me: As these devices have only recently had the abilty to update maps, is this card suitable for this device?
Scot Y. (UK): I don't believe so, but please bear with me while I check on this for you.
Me: Thanks.
Scot Y. (UK): Thanks for waiting! My 2nd line team have advised that because the issues have been at our end, we will honour these cards if purchased now.
Me: Cool - OK Thank you.
Scot Y. (UK): You're welcome! Is there anything else I can do to help?
Me: No, that's all. Thanks
Scot Y. (UK): Then thanks for your time today!
Regards
Iain |
