The RDS-TMC traffic 'thingy' that I used with my TomTom 730T has finally died on me.
Rather than pay £ 50 for another traffic 'thingy' I thought I might as well buy a new TomTom with the LIVE traffic on it and just keep my TomTom 730T as a spare.
It has been a few years since I have looked at what is out there and I must admit having had a look now I'm a bit confused.
What I am looking for is a TomTom with the following:
Only need UK & ROI maps
LIVE Traffic
IQ Routes
Advanced Lane Guidance
Nice Big Screen
Bluetooth ( would be nice but not a deal breaker )
Text To Speech
Ability to load on PGPSW Cameras ( obviously )
Ability to upload my hundreds of POI's ( that I use daily )
Will need to have at least as much memory space as my 730T so that it does'nt run slowly when I have loaded it up with my cameras and POI's.
Can anybody tell me , is there a TomTom out there that fits this criteria ?
HELP !!!! _________________ Keith

Now the user-POIs and Latest Map Guarantee features are finally working, the Go1000/1005 are looking much better prospects.
Still no way to switch maps yet, but if you only need the UK that's not a problem.
Sound quality is very good (the Via I have is VERY poor), VERY bright multi-touch screen (pinch-zoom etc.) but rather reflective.
Routing is VERY fast compared to any TomTom you're used to (Lands End to John O'Groats on a Go 1000 - 16 seconds. On a Go 940 - 1 minute 5 seconds!)
No Itinerary Planning or ogg file warning voices for POIs and the PGPSW camera database yet though. |

With my refurb 550 there was no LMG. but it came with v840 maps, which Support agreed was a bit too old and gave me v860 [week before 865 came out].
I have read here that some refurbs do come with LMG. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

It's always been a confusing mess!
Here's how I remember it...
For a long time You could buy refurbished models from other places and they DID come with LMG although TomTom denied it, every time anyone checked with them.
Then there was a period where refurbs from TomTom DID come with LMG and ones from elsewhere didn't.
Then they started up the official "outlet store" and those ones DON'T come with it, but it's possible to beg for it and you might be lucky.
I could be wrong, but I think that's close to the situation. |
