Looking to transfer a lengthy list of Favourites on a Garmin device, to a new machine.

Am I right in thinking that they are contained in the .GPX file? And will they transfer to another Garmin device?

Thanks, Arnie.

In general, it should just be a matter of copying the CURRENT.GPX file to the new device (and renaming it to (say) TEMP.GPX).

(There are some unit-specific issues you may encounter though - some (older) units didn't allow direct access to the GPX file (C3xx series etc). Also, the Nüvi 3xx series stored some of its data in a strange manner, which will require some manipulation if data loss is to be avoided.)

Thanks for that Phil. Will give it a go and see what happens.

Worse case scenario...will just have to spend a couple of hours entering coordinates.

Cheers, Arnie.

If you saved them to a POI file instead it would be easier to transfer them each time. Plus if you change to a TomTom it's easier to convert to the OV2 format for TT.

Use the Favourites to record locations when out and about or for one off destinations you don't intend to keep and then set them up as a POI when you get access to a PC.

Google for a program called POIEdit that can convert and create / edit poi files.

I have a Nuvi660 and just purchased a 775. I used the Easy GPS Receive function to produce a file in GPS Exchange format. Then I used POIEdit to open this file, then select all the entries and paste them into a new window that I saved in CSV format. Then it was only a matter of copying the CSV file to the same directoryf rom which I load all my POIs. I called the new CSV file 'Nuvi 660 Favorites'. There may be a more straightforward way but this process worked for me.
