After a significant period of inactivity I recently charged up my Satmap 10,
it has the Li-Pol pack. After a long charge 9 hours +, it still showed only 3 rather than 4 bars, so I gave it a further long charge and all seemed okay. I have been using it for short periods for a week or so without difficulty.

The time came around to recharge it again and after a long charge it still showed a low battery, also when I switched it on the Satmap locked up and would not allow me to select the map.

So, I switched off and plugged in the charger again, the Satmap came on as it usually does when the charger is activated and the Satmap went into sleep mode after that. I left it to charge overnight.

The following morning it does not respond to the on/off switch and does not come on when the charger is activated.

Presumably it is a problem with the battery pack, but I am a little concerned that there is no response even when connected through the charger to the mains? Maybe it's the plug or usb lead?

Would appreciate any feedback before I start buying another battery pack.

Thanks.

There was another post describing a similar issue with a dead unit. In that case, the respondent threw caution to the wind and opened the unit. The cause was a loose connector.

I'd suggest you speak with Satmap before expending money on a new battery as the battery is unlikely to be the cause when the charger doesn't have any effect.

You could also try the AA battery option but I suspect a call to Satmap is the best course of action.
