At 8am on a Monday morning? Probably very busy.....
Having said that mine connected in the usual time about half an hour ago and is still connected... Sometimes it will be slow during busy periods. Best to switch on 10-15 minutes earlier than you need on those occassions... |

Coincidentally I had the same problem this morning at exactly the same time ... but with a substantial difference: I'm not in UK but in Continental Europe (Vodafone network).
The same had happened last week when it was reported in the forum (and attributed to a West London only problem). Again it was at the same time.
These coincidences lead me to believe that is not depending on local network conditions but on Tomtom servers end |

So Vodafone knows where all its users are, then aggregates the data geographically, transmits this to Tomtom, who convert/filter it to congestion information, then Tomtom reissues this to Live devices through the Vodafone network? So there is scope for system failure and several points? There must also be a delay of at least several minutes in the process. Perhaps the Vodafone/Tomtom contract has something about the service being interruptible at busy times to ensure mobile users are not inconvenienced? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Knowing TomTom's track record on time keeping I would've thought there'd be scope for several months delay in the process |

Mine didn't connect for about 5 miles this morning - blue bar kept coming up spinning and disappearing. But since it locked after 5 miles on I thought might have been a local transmitter issue (or maybe TomTom was sulking about being left in car last night which was covered in frost ;) ) _________________ J. |
