I’ve just driven from the south home this afternoon, about half way home HD Traffic was showing that the M1 northbound was closed just after the M45 junction.
None of the local radio stations were reporting this so I ignored the HD Traffic and went on the M1, ok the traffic was slow in the area due to rubber neckers looking at the accident on the southbound carriageway but no closure.
Anybody else had this show up?? _________________ TomTom GO720 and TomTom GO750

It is showing M1 J18-J19 closed Northbound due to roadworks which is not correct. _________________ Drivelux |

I drove Southbound on the M1 between J20 & J19 at about 3:30pm on Friday and there were advanced warning signs saying the M1 was going to be closed to install a new bridge. I did not take much notice because it did not effect me but I thought it was this weekend. _________________ Peter

I also do think they have highlighted hot spots that automatically get added each day .as the other day while it was school holidays, a nightmare piece of road was OK (normally standstill every mon to fri) but it did say traffic was there _________________ TomTom 5001 |

The data providers are at fault, not TomTom.
I experienced one yesterday - M6 J37, stationary traffic for 10 miles. There was of course, hardly a vehicle in sight, given that it was 6.30am on a Saturday on what is probably the quietest section of the entire motorway network!
It was completely implausible - 10 miles of stationary traffic is probably a day's worth on that section.
I agree that certain 'jams' do seem to be added automatically, on the basis that they [b]should[/b be there.
The HA wombles do this with the overhead gantries as well. Now that traffic levels are being hit by fuel prices in some areas, this sticks out like a sore thumb. On Friday, M6 at Preston was displaying 'Queue after junction'.....well, if there was one, it was moving at 70mph!! |
