|
|
I'm sure this must have been covered elsewhere but I can't find it so - help please.
I am hard of hearing and have used the FM transmitter on my old TomTom (GO 920) to transmit instructions via the car stereo. Not ideal but it worked most of the time. Now I have just acquired a new VW Tiguan with a bluetooth enabled Stereo that is supposed to accept input from A2DP bluetooth devices.
I have got my phone to be recognised by both the Car stereo on the Satnav but cannot get the satnav to pick up the Satnav.
Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong or which portable Satnavs would work, would be gratefully received. _________________ LostMike

Turn the Bluetooth OFF on your phone then try to connect your 920 to the car using Bluetooth, it could be the phone is grabbing both the HFP and A2DP profiles when it connects which will barr the TomTom from finding the head unit.
The 920 certainly supports audio over Bluetooth but creating the connection can be "fun" - Mike |

Thanks Mike
You have done it again! It now works, not quite as I had hoped (interupting the radio) but it works.
As I am thinking of changing my satnav (the current one appears to by dying) can you or anyone else confirm, or deny, that any satnav with bluetooth should broadcast to the radio or will only ones with MP3 type players, or.....
Thanks again _________________ LostMike

The 940 Live is the best of the bunch from TomTom if you can still find one as that does everything.
The 950 Live supports Bluetooth Audio but only for the Nav instructions and camera alerts as they dropped the mp3 player capability, this device has no FM transmitter capability.
The even newer Go-1000 Live products don't support Bluetooth Audio out and neither do they have an FM transmitter.
Go-1005, VIA and XL devices do not support Bluetooth A2DP for audio connection to a car stereo.

Whats up with the 920 as I would be inclined to try and fix that to be honest compared to whats on offer from the new model range - Mike |

Thanks Mike,
The 920 is showing its age, the battery is gone and the software seems to have a number of apparently inconsistent issues! A bit like a windows PC after a few years.....
Your colleague Darren pointed me at Aura for Android and I am mightily impressed in terms of value for money, though I still have a few issues with Bluetooth with that. I will probably put up another post related to these problems to try and pick your capable brains and those of others. _________________ LostMike
