Well David, neat idea, but how would I feel about the downloads of other people's corrections which are on his unit and inside those files? My map is v865.3245, UK & ROI, App 9.058.568435.1, OS 541764 (1030, 25/8/2010), GPS v1.20, Boot 5.5259, GO 550 Live.
Steven it seems your corrections for Newcastle are only on your unit, although I expect they've been uploaded to TT. So presumably they still fall into the category of waiting to be approved/verified by TT and therefore are not on the new map this week. So I could only get them by accepting all corrections. That's my point - I guess I'd trust your corrections, but I don't want any from people I don't trust. (That's assuming I can overcome my reluctance to degrade my TT by adding the MapShare extra weight of corrections). _________________ Dennis

Thanks Dennis. It is not a perfect system, but for me, Mapshare works.
Oh and I am a Trusted User for Mapshare corrections. So if you have the 'Tomtom and Trusted users' setting set, you should get some or all of my submissions.

No offense Steven, but a "trusted user" submitted the 40mph speed for the Severn Bridge (I give TT credit for not having verified it, because they'd have seen it wasn't so). That means that if I accept Trusted, I also get his and all the other people who do funny stuff like 20mph for school flashing lights.
Edit to add. But by all means send me those files and I'll stick them into my 550 and see how they go - I'm sure Newcastle will be fine, but I'd like to see what is around where you haven't submitted. _________________ Dennis

How do you become a "Trusted User"? _________________ Tomtom Go 1005

Surely this is something which you cannot influence other than by submitting lots of corrections which prove, on checking by TT, to be accurate - I know he has - and simply judge by the fact that he says he's sorted out Newcastle, which has got to be some significant effort, so he's not only put in the time, but he's demonstrated he cares greatly. _________________ Dennis

As Dennis correctly states, I have submitted many many corrections in the Newcastle area since the inception of Mapshare. So much so, that in 2008 I was approached by Tomtom to do some voluntary work for them due to the volume and quality of my submissions.
As I am a full time multi-drop delivery driver (currently), it is essential that I have the best quality map data, and Mapshare makes it easy for me to correct issues in the base map data.
So in 2008, I got the 'award' for most Mapshare corrections submitted by a user in the UK. Bit geeky, I know! Link here.

Perhaps time to give CS a ring? They are quite helpful on the straightforward stuff. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I've have a TT720 and for the past, I think 2 years, I've been posting a MapShare correction relating to the renaming and reclassification of the M10 to A414 Dual carriageway. This was originally a small section of motorway from Jnc 7 of the M1.
In the latest map V865, this appears to have been corrected, apart from one section labelled M10 A414, which of course is incorrect. I'm asking if this, indeed, has actually been updated and it's not just my own MapShare correction.

Hi Falkirk,
Iam also from newcastle area.
I have been trying to correct the speed limit on the A1 both directions between the Angel and the Metro centre.
The limit drops to 50mph for that area.
I tried to select the A1 bit but it picks miles of road!
Any ideas on the best way to correct it?
TT of course but any way of the mapshare on my unit.

Hi gluey, I have already corrected this but I believe it takes more than just one trusted user to get the correction broadcast to other users.
You need to select the road, then go to edit, and from there you can select smaller portions of the a1 to change to 50mph as initially it will select the whole a1!
