Hmmm,
I bought a one year (plus 6 months free) Map Update Service for "Europe" maps, on 31 March 2010, therefore I should still be subscribed to the Map Update Service until 30 September 2011.
Connecting the 950 to TT Home and checking for updates, I see no new maps. However, if I click on the Add Maps, I see that Europe v865.3244 (2287 MB) is available to buy for £59.95. That's really annoying as I've already paid for the update!
By the way, Europe v865.3244 looks to be about 95MB smaller than v860.3102. Other people have commented that their v865 maps are smaller than the previous ones. Does anybody have any definitive answers as to why the v865 maps are smaller?
Has anybody else managed to get offered Europe v865.3244 by TT Home?

TomTom Home offered me Europe_West 865.3244 for my XXL this morning. Downloaded BUT can no longer 'Navigate to' anything under the 'Address' section - just freezes up and reboots itself after 25-30 seconds. Seems ok with the usual home / recent / poi though.
Good job I did a backup first...

The W&CE map in 8.65 is around 8MB larger than 8.60 but the CRPOI.DAT file has dropped from 138MB to 22MB, some major change there. Likewise in UK&ROI, CRPOI has dropped from 14.6MB to 1.7MB. I wonder what extra information they cut out here? _________________ Drivelux

Beginning with the 860 version, NA maps have not had a CRPOI.DAT file whatsoever. I have a hunch that the 870 map in May or the 875 map in August will be offered only in zones for the NA market.

I know the sharing process is shrouded in secrecy, and that corrections take a long time to make it to the actual map data, but you could take my trusty GO 950 with the latest v8.65 map data and I would personally guarantee you not to get lost in Newcastle city centre.
I have corrected it via Mapshare so much that someone who has never been here will not get lost, no dodgy turn restrictions, no blocked roads etc etc.
Two questions
1. Are all your corrections now incorporated into map 865 (and has that anything to do with your relationship with TomTom)?
2. How can I download only your corrections and nobody else's?
I'm not being a smart**** here. It's just that my (nine, also guaranteed perfectly reliable) corrections haven't yet made it into the latest map 865 and I'd be perfectly happy to download your corrections but nobody else's. _________________ Dennis

It took me nearly 5 years, of repeated reporting, to get my first corrections into a map. I still have some outstanding, going back about 3 years. _________________ Richard

We're talking MapShare, though. Steven guarantees me getting around Newcastle faultlessly and I would love my TT to be that good. We know he's got a good relationship with TT, so maybe his corrections are regarded as trusted? Alternatively, with that sort of guarantee, I'd happily download his MapShare corrections. But I don't know how to do that without getting the M48 at 40mph and a lot of others that I come across in my travels. Let's see what he says when he gets here.
PS My non existent roundabout has at last been removed, about four years I think. _________________ Dennis

Dennis, I would gladly give you my Newcastle corrections if there were a way to. I know not of any way to give corrections to an individual user.
Yes I have a relationship with Tomtom, nothing new or secret there. I do have some communication with them regarding individual major map errors, but in respect of mapshare, I have witnessed many corrections made by myself (without direct communication with Tomtom) being corrected in map data. So the relationship I have with Tomtom in not a factor.
As for downloading dodgy road speeds, they do not affect routing, only for cosmetic purposes. I agree with you that changes made by mapshare take a very very long time (if at all) to be corrected. The roundabout at the entrance to my estate is still not there, and it's been there for C.10 years!
I have no argument with you Dennis that Mapshare is not as good as it is hyped up to be, but my question remains unanswered!
Does ANY other satnav maker have any way to correct currently?
