|
|
I actually bought the TTN3 bluetooth for someone else.
(Haven't used it all - hence my other posting.)
The person who I bought it for is having a few problems.
- The iPaq unit just freezes for no apparent reason.
- The GPS signal will suddenly go - the only way to get it back is to reboot the iPaq.
- And when near big buildings in the City (London) the GPS signal will dissapear until you get away from the building.
I've contacted Tomtom who have suggested doing a few things (like doing a clean reinstall).
I there anything else that should be tried?
And are the above common problems?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Freezing issues can often be attributed to storage cards, as you're using a 3870 I assume you are using SD? If so can you tell me what size and make it is? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for the reply.
The TTN3 is actually being used in a new iPaq 1940.
It's got an extra SD memory card (Viking make I think) of 128MB.
Does that help?
Let me know. _________________ iPaq 3870

We'll need any markings or serial no's of the rear of the card to discover if it's one of the problem cards. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well... the SD memory card is a Kingston (and not Viking as I may have said previously) one... which I thought would be a good enough make?
The serial number on the card is: 9930287-004-A00.
There's another serial number on the box, which is: 40167 06188.
I've got a scan of both below.
Let me know what you think.

Well... in faint writing on the other side there is the following number:
D000 BQ4EC016095
Let me know if you get any joy with that.
Also... I forgot to mention two other problems:
- On occasions the unit will give the WRONG directions, so it will say left when it should say right for example.
- And a lot of the time... it will give the long route to somewhere!

This might sound a bit silly, but if you have TTN on I presume you dont know where you are going so how do you know it says left when it should be right and its the long way around?
BTW, the default on it is quickest not shortest route

.
the person who i bought the unit for (a mini cab driver ) tested out the unit in areas they new really well... and hence made the previous mentioned discoveries.
they also told me that sometimes the unit will take you round and round in circles, going through the same place on more than one occasion before taking you to the final location! _________________ iPaq 3870

I cant think why it would make you go around the same place more than once, but as for routing you will have to change the default from quickest to make it go the way you like and even if that isnt correct you still have the option of "alternative route"

Can't locate that serial in the problem list which suggests it should be OK or hasn't been picked up yet! _________________ Darren Griffin |
