Quote: | The old name has stuck a little, mainly because it is quite confusing trying to differentiate between the "MyTomTom" application (that appears in the bottom right corner of your PC screen), and the "MyTomTom" webpage interface (where you get the updates etc.). |
But I prefer that description ftb, as it seems so logical. The first "MyTomTom" webpage interface has a version number starting 2. and the "MyTomTom" application has one starting in 3. Works for me -- until they change the version numbers. _________________ Gee-Pee

I just got a 1005 today (as £30.00 cashback via Amazon) but alas no POI's or map updates on offer.
I also did not realise the device no longer shows up as a drive like the old ones did.

One reason for reading the posts in this forum. But, you are not alone. As far as the updates for POI installation is concerned, I guess it is just a matter of waiting.
Which version of TTHome3 have you got? And don't forget to clear the cache. _________________ Gee-Pee

My TTHome3 is version 3.0.1.221.
Tried clearing cache but no change.
TTHome3 app also does not seem to like Chrome browser but okay with IE8.

That seems fine. Now it's just a matter of waiting Understood that TT are making the updates available on some kind of rota - maybe in the serial number order. Who knows. _________________ Gee-Pee

Can you say what software version it's now running? (and what it WAS on, if you can remember) |
The version is now 10,150 (not sure about the previous one).
The update was done last Monday (14th) in the evening. |

Does the update now permit new maps to be loaded or is the 90 day map deal not worth the electronic paper it is written on?
Quote: | Buying new maps is currently not possible for the following navigation devices:
GO 1000 series, Via series, Sony XNV
We are working hard to offer this as soon as possible. |
The new Sony XNV in dash ones look interesting and I see amazon UK sell them.

Hi HummerUK or Automan as I seem to know you better over at www.tivocommunity.com (where you may know me better as Pete77).
Unfortunately the 1000 series is not an improvement on the x40/x50 series at the present time due to its denial of direct access to the memory as a drive letter (pretty terminal if one wants to install add on applications like Joghurt's Height program or Tripmaster) and the problems with installing and updating the Pocketgpsworld.com speed cams not to mention Latest Map Guarantee issues etc. Its only improvement is faster journey calculation of long journeys or journeys in to big city centres (an area of very poof performance by the x40 and x50 units)
Which TomTom Satnav did you own before? If an x40 or x50 series then unfortunately you would have been better off waiting until TomTom learned from its mistakes and the extensive negative customer feedback regarding the many issues with the 1000 series and perhaps gets things right in the 1100 series presumably to be launched in about another 4 months time...... |

Great, but how old are they? |
Bought them early November. |
Does that mean I have to wait 3 months before I can add POI if they are only up to Novembers units? _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

Not necessarily! Could be that the system is lucky dip Seriously, I don't think that anyone actually knows what system is being used. _________________ Gee-Pee

I have had the update for my 1000, and I have put the speed cameras database from on here, but while traveling on the m6 and the m42 to banbury and back again, I only had about 6 alerts of speed cameras that are now on these 2 motorways from the database on here and about 25 on the Tom Tom database, why has the pgs database got so few on it ? You could see the cameras where there if you looked up, but pgs did not have them on ? |

Most are dummies, so no need for warnings.
Been discussed many times in the camera section.
