OK. I've just tried this again.

1. Remove old .zip file from download folder.
2. Fire up camera manager and select TomTom.
3. Goto download folder and delete the .zip file it just downloaded.
4. Select Garmin from within camera manager.
5. Look in download folder a few seconds later and there are my new files.

I then check the current database within camera manager and it says, "Speed Camera Database Version 9.022 09 Feb 11".

I then check the licence.txt file within the .zip file camera manager downloaded and it says, "Version 9.023 (16 Feb 11)".

Just to top things off my camera manager has just told me I'm not logged in. WTF!!! Laughing Out Loud.

I've been having problems with Camera Manager tonight saying I'm not logged in. I have not any problems with this issue for a long time. Thought it might be the Windows update to Internet Explorer 9RC yesterday but IE8 on laptop says the same.

Checked that PGPS is still listed in trusted sites.

Tried changing to TomTom from the normal Garmin and back again as another member had done and checked file dates but due to them being re-created they show 16th Feb. CM3 shows that it checked for updates was yesterday.

Does this mean its at PGPS end?

Regards

So Camera Manager succeeding in downloading the .ZIP file itself? - mine doesn't, hence the manual download.

That is more in-keeping with it not having downloaded the file itself...
...my Camera Manager still shows that too - yet I know that the .zip it created the .gpx files from, is from the 16th (because I downloaded and examined it myself).

Presumably, toggling from TomTom to Garmin doesn't trigger the updating of that particular field, but does trigger the processing of the zip file?

(One thing I didn't mention, is that I'd already manually cleared away last week's .gpx and .bmp files - I always do this as part of my normal housekeeping.)

.

As I stated earlier, at about 4pm today we changed the download system but the old version should still work. This was an assumption I made about the method Ash10 uses to access the database, an assumption that is clearly wrong!

I've contacted Ash10 about the change of system as a courtesy gesture. So it is up to him to amend the code as required for his Camera Manager software.

When I run Camera Manager and set it to Tom Tom it downloads the zip file, however, when I set it to Garmin (as it should be set) I get the message "not loged on to Pocket GPS World. Cannot download file". Something somewhere has changed. I don't think it is my PC as others are experiencing the same problem.

After more experimenting, it seems it does download the file, after all. (It might slightly change the order it does things though - I didn't see it create any Tomtom files...)

A method which does seem to work repeatably (and produce GPX files!), is

  • Ensure Camera Manager isn't running and delete everything from its designated download directory.
  • Modify the following registry value, to tell it that it was in Tomtom mode:-

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Camera Manager\
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - \ mode=Tomtom
    (this appears to be case-sensitive)

  • Invoke Camera Manager
  • Camera Manager will be in Tomtom mode initially - toggle to Garmin and it should start downloading and building GPX files.

(Note: it still doesn't update its own onscreen release information, but if you look at the Release.txt in the downloaded .zip file, you should find you have the data you're expecting)

(I note with interest, that when you toggle from Tomtom to Garmin, it requests the zip file directly from Pocketgpsworld.com - rather than the initial download page.)

Disclaimer: If you're editing the registry, I expect you to take responsibility for your own actions!

The above method seems to work i.e changing the registry value, but if you try to download again, you still get the same error message (not loged on to PGPS World). You have to change the registry value again. Still not a satisfactory solution.

I can confirm that Camera Manager 3.0 does not work with the revised PGPSW download system - you will get "not logged in errors", regardless of which version of IE you have installed... Sad

UPDATE - NOW WORKING AGAIN!

After some discussion, MaFt has very kindly effected a temporary fix at the PGPSW end - which will suffice until I can release an updated version of Camera Manager.

Thanks again, and watch this space Cool

I think it means the Ash10 program needs to know where your speed camera files are to be found on your PC.

Open up CameraManager, click Options and Browse to where your files are. Click OK.

Try that, and see what happens!

Dales.
