|
|
Just bought the app (again - I already have it for my work iPhone - 59p here, 59p there...) and discovered that I can only link the database to one or the other.
I can understand the logic behind this - a person sharing the data with a number of friends phone for example. My understanding - erroneous as it turns out - was that this was the reason for the three device limit.
Is there any way I can link two phones to the database?
Great app BTW - that's why I bought it twice! |

Watch this space... I am working on allowing up to 3 devices to be linked at the moment. Will be rolling out next week sometime. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Mike has now enabled the behind the scenes code, you should now be able to register your second handset.
If you cannot, because you tried before we permitted it, submit a support ticket with the UDID of your second phone and we'll get you sorted. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have submitted three support tickets but I don't get an email copy (despite ticking the box) and I also suspect they don't get to you as I still can't link my second device to the database. Any ideas? |

We have received all three and replied to the first two:
Quote: | Hello Michael,
You should still be able to link it without our intervention. Just enter the user-name and password linked to your subscription and it will be linked.
If you experience an issue, we will need the ID of your new phone.
On your Android device (with CamerAlert running) press Menu and then select About. The ID we need is the long string of letter, hyphens and numbers underneath the version number.
Once you have your ID please add it to a reply to this ticket and we can investigate.
For reference, the CamerAlert Manual can be viewed on-line at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/cameralert-android.php |
What error do you receive? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yes. Sometimes our support ticket replies get tagged as SPAM. We've done all we can at our end. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi - I can only find the automated email responses in my spam on my email server but no replies (see below) . The error message I receive is 'too many devices linked'. I've updated to the latest cameralert version to see if this would help but to no avail - nice improvements though!
Cheers - Michael

Ok, should work now. We had an issue a while back where a single device could be recorded in our database more than once.
In your case, your iPhone was logged 3 x.
We've since corrected this but I needed to flush your account of the two dupes.
All sorted now. You should be able to register your Android phone. _________________ Darren Griffin |

It's only smartphones using the app that are linked. Stand alone devices such as TomTom, Garmin etc. onto which you loaded the database 'manually' are not registered 'at their end'. You are on 'scouts honour' not to exceed the total number of those devices. |
