I bought a second hand Nuvi 250 which was supposed to have Uk/europe 2010 installed. when I received it they were not installed but a disk was enclosed with an unlocked 2010 map file on it. file is :gmapsupp.img
How can I install this file? no instructions came with the disk. |

The gmapsupp.img file goes on the root of the device or memory card. But as far as I know you need MapSource to unlock the map to your device with a map licence code purchased from Garmin.
Have you tried registering it at Garmin. If the unit has never been registered then it will tell you what map should be on it and the unlock code for that map and what maps you can purchase to update it.
Or I think you can use a program from Garmin called WebUpdater. |

On my nuvi 255 the map files are in the Garmin folder (in the unit, or on the SD card). Just copy and paste (then see if it's locked or not!) It may be better to put it on an SD card first, to try it out. If it causes problems, you can take out the SD card.

Thanks for replies all I decided that the file was probably 'dodgy' so I've ordered a lifetime update through Amazon & will install that! |
