Hi,
I have managered to install the Pocket GPS World Camera Data Base onto my navman 475, this how I did it,
Disable the navman speed camera warnings on the device
1 install lastest Miomore desktop
2 Download the Other CSV type camera data base I have tried both the consolidaded and single type and unzip, both worked okay on my unit.
3 Open Miomore desktop, connect sat nav and allow to sync.
4 Click on Custom POI, press the browse button and navigate to the speed cam data base.
5 select new category and give a name eg Gasto
6 tick the box in the visual alert and navigate to the icon in the PGSW folder and adjust the warning distance you want and press the save changes button
Repeat for each category you wish to install with different names eg redlight mobile.
I have not been able to get any audio warnings to work yet but I am using windows 7 and it could be a conflict between the 2 programs, it might work with win xp it anybody could try and let me know, the warnings need to be WAV files and in mono,
I have only tried the 22x22 icons, the navman seem to colour the icon itself as they appear yellow on my unit.

Does the process you used differ in any way from that in our install guide?

I have just got a Mio Navman 478.

Unit seems okay but I see no option in the desktop software to synch.

So I guess no option to load any custom poi's or speed cameras?

Hi Darren,
I just went to the navman speed camera database and downloaded it and tried to install it but did not read your guide and did not know how to use the asc format so I downloaded the other csv type files and installed that one.

HI Captiandrift,
I have tried using the safety cam file as you suggested but still cannot get any warning sounds for the speed cam's, I have tried different sound file I think it must be my set up win7 / 64 if you have any other suggestion that I might try.

The icons for the Navman units used to be 8 bit colour depth, anyhigher and the device wouldn't use them, try the icons from the asc version as these should be 8 bit rather than the 24 bit supplied with the csv download.

I hope the above still applies to the download though as I haven't checked colour depth on the asc file set for quite a while - Mike

Hi HummerUK,
Do you have the lastest mio desktop version 7.30, if not you must be connected to the internet when you open version 7.00 and it will auto update, then you will see an extra button with custom poi on it

I think our 478's like the new TomTom's do not support third party POI's.

Perhaps so the only choice you have is to buy their ones?

Automan.

Do you think the Miomore desktop detects the model and disables some features?

I suppose it's just a database, and whilst they might disable their own applications for editing it - there'll always be 3rd party methods

If you have a look at http://manuals.mio-tech.be/Manuals/Moov-Navman_Spirit_MMD_Manual_EN.pdf you will see the product can do lots of things depending upon the device and I guess the data is in device.xml as that is the only file they told me not to delete.

Automan.
