Robert and I did a tour of central Florida in June surveying possible speed camera locations. We covered many hundreds of miles but only managed to verify 5 cameras, and we found another one by accident a trial location.
Since then cameras have been installed at 7 of the City of Orlando's worst intersections I just happened to be in the area the week after the cameras went live. I managed to locate all of the 10 cameras at the seven intersections and make sure they were in the PocketGPSWorld.com Speed Camera Database for the next release.
The Orlando Area is a very popular holiday destination for families from all over Europe coming to visit Mickey Mouse. Although Disneyland is south and west of the City of Orlando the intersection of Turkey Lake Road and Wallace Road is quite close to the Universal Studios theme parks.

I am on holiday in Florida and on the news this morning the subject of Red Light Cameras was raised. For a list of the Cameras see the following Link.

From my experience a warning is given where the cameras are in use, but don't depend up on it. |

Hi Jasea,
This is slightly old news. I was out there last month and there are a lot of cameras that have gone up and are in our database. Hopefully you will not find any cameras that are not in the database.
What that doesnt mention is the 13 cameras in Polk County (all in the database and mainly on the 27) that were installed in November and activated for issuing fines on Jan 15th. These are not just Red Light Cameras but turn on red cameras. You must come to a complete stop before the line before turning. I have witnessed the cameras firing on many a driver.
Also the cameras are not very prominent, often on slim white poles and the newer ones dont even look like RLCs.
Just as I was leaving last week they mentioned that Titusville by Kennedy Space Center was going to be installing cameras on a number of intersections. No mention of that on this report (which co-incidently was released on my birthday). _________________ Mike Barrett |
