Help needed to test our CamerAlert application on Android

i,m trying to edit a mobile camera and don't understand the part where it say's ( on this side , on other side ) it would depend which way you were travelling. i can edit the camera on the website with no problem

Is it on the side you were travelling when you clicked the report button, is was it on the other carriageway?

thanks for the quick reply. no it's a camera already in the database and want to edit it.

But you can only edit cameras in-app that you have passed and reported. So the question 'This Side' or 'Other Side' applies. Was it on your side when you passed it or the other side.

If you haven't passed it, and you want to submit a change, you need to do so from the web-site submissions page.

if in doubt add a voice note along the lines of "it needs changing to the opposite direction to that which is already in the database" (or something more concise Wink

I note that on the CamerAlert user guide, you are continuing to perpetuate the myth:
"With this screen you can now specify which direction the camera monitors. Please bear in mind that some cameras (SPECs and Truvelo) take forward facing images and others take rear facing images."

Can I suggest that you remove the Truvelo from the examples of forward-facing cameras. Although it can (& regularly does!) take forward-facing photos, it can also take rear-facing photos. Constantly referring to Truvelos as forward-facing cameras gives the impression that they can only take photos of the front of the car.

Unfortunately, I know to my cost that this isn't true. I used to regularly pass a Truvelo on my way to work. I believed that it was only a forward-facing camera because I had read this so many times. I was therefore taken by complete surprise when I received an NIP showing a time when the camera couldn't have taken a picture of the front of my car - when I requested a copy of the photo, it clearly showed the rear.

I think this just goes to show that the continued references to Truvelos as forward-facing cameras are very misleading, and should be changed.

I was travelling SE at the time (towards MK), though I have seen that camera pointing in both directions.

It has been quite a while since I passed that way, so I can't comment on its current situation.
