Hi there, bought myself a Streetpilot i3 off of ebay, practically brand new and seems to work. Only problem is on the 'Where to' screen, some of the selections seem to be missing.
In the manual that came with it, it shows, Go Home, Address, Food Hotels and More, Recent finds, My favourites, Intersections & Cities.
On my Garmin it only comes up with Go Home, recent finds, My favourites & Cities. I Have made sure the Map is up to date, registered it with Garmin, downloaded and checked everything from the Garmin website and even done a master reset, but nothing seems to bring up the missing selections. Is there anyway to bring back the address search and the others that are missing?
Oh yeah, I'm in the UK and have the European map if that is any help.
I hope there is a way to sort it out, I really want to be able to search by address while on the road, even though I can use google maps to upload places via the PC at home.

Might be worth checking what maps are on it. It should have City Navigator NT from memory. If it has had other maps installed then they may to be fully navigable and may also be missing the pre-installed POI data. Food Hotels & More and Intersections are POIs stored in the map data itself.

It MAY be that it's a Demo model, or one running in Demo mode. Don't know if this would be so with an i3 or, if it could be in Demo, whether the actual differences would be what you have got. But you would certainly expect there to be some restrictions in choices in that case, especially in route planning, partly I suppose so it couldn't be usefully nicked from a shop.
Not sure how you would check (but someone else may KNOW) - have a look at the manual.
Hope I'm not barking completely up the wrong tree (but can't guarantee it ) _________________ David

I remember vaguely people buying the Garmin Metro maps for the i3 as they were cheaper than the City Navigator maps. I'm talking maybe 4 or 5 years ago when a UK map update was £90+ or the Metro maps were about £40.
The main 'issue' they had was that they did not include the POIs and this resulted in different menu options... Hence my thinking that these may be updated maps but not the right type for the i3 to use properly.
Thanks for the replies, as far as I can tell, after looking at the Mygarmin section on the garmin website and checking what maps are on this device, it apparently has City Select Europe NT v7 Deluxe All, May 05. Now I don't know if that's actually what's on it, and I don't know what's on the microsd card that in the device either, I can't find anyway of finding out what's on that card or how to access an internal memory of the garmin it's self.....all in all, I'm lost with it and the Garmin site isn't the most user friendly one to navigate to find out answers.
Cheers for that, the software version is 3.40 and the audio version is 2.00 and in the mapsource window there is nothing, narda, zero, zilk, zip.....guess that means there are no maps?
It does have a 265mb microsd card, but don't know if anything is on it.

Its been a long time since I logged onto MyGarmin. But if you registered the unit it should let you download the map for it, and also give you the map unlock code. See if it offers you a free map update. Not sure what link you need to use in MyGarmin, but all the info should be there.
Software version 3.40 is okay.
If you see no maps in that MAP menu then that is the problem you have.
Did the unit come with the MapSource CD.
EDIT: Having just logged on to MyGarmin I remember now that you have to get a map cd from Garmin. As the i30 you purchased sounds like it is quite old Garmin may not have any cd left for that version. The best thing to do is contact them and ask if they can send you a cd or a map update as you have just purchased the i3 and found no maps on it. You may be lucky or not. Other than that if the seller said it worked then send it back for a full refund.
Cheers, at least I know what the problem is now, although I'm not best pleased about it. Anyway, that's the gamble of ebay sometimes. I've contacted the seller to see what he says about it.
