Thanks for the answer Jim - guess there will be many who wish to keep hold of their cards.
Wonder if Satmap would allow someone to run a rental business - buy a few of each card and rent them out....? Hmm, they might have an issue with lost revenue, but depending on the takeup of units (anyone know how many are in circulation in the UK), it could be a worthwhile venture.
User lays down a replacement cost deposit, and gets that back upon return, less a rental and processing charge (packaging, shipping etc).
Hmm... What does anyone else think?
Cheers, Mark |

I think it's a sound idea Mark. I suspect Satmap might not be in favour but I take your point about takeup of units that might result. I'm tempted to make an approach to them ......? I'm unsure legally where people might stand if they went ahead regardless. Also I'm not really in the business of upsetting what I regard as a great and innovcative British company. Of course when they are (inevitably) bought up by the Americans that perception might chang.

Never crossed my mind, to be honest. Guess the libraries may have special dispensation to loan paper (laminated) copies out. Would be worth checking though, if anyone had the necessary to collate a full set. |
