|
|
I have a Mio 350 which refuses to co operate and someone has suggested getting a ROM update and flashing it to my device....I am not very technically minded and would appreciate any help in explaining how I might obtain a ROM update and then performing the flashing process steps. Can anyone help me ? |

I've moved your query to the Navman/Mio forum area and deleted the duplicate which you posted in the Navigon? forum. Please only post a request once.
I can't answer your query but hopefully someone else will be along who can _________________ Darren Griffin |

Firstly, what do you mean by refuses to co-operate? Flashing a rom is really the last resort and should not really be done unless there are some definate improvements in the OS. Having said that, have you tried Googling for 'Mio 350 rom update'. I just did and there's loads of hits on the subject.
I reflashed the ROM on my Mio 168 which went OK, but it is aparantly quite easy to end up with a fairly ineficient doorstop if you are not careful.

I wouldn't bother updating it unless there is a specific need to do so which adds vital functionality you really need, get it wrong and you could brick the device.
M8TJT that link is the exact same one I was about to post in this reply! - Mike |

Thanks lads. I will have a look at that info and try it out. At the moment the mio is dead. Theres a light on but nothing else. Last time I switched it on I had a blue screen but no buttons worked. I fear it may be fatal !!! Will get back to you and let you know how I get on. |

The blue screen is the firmware menu.
As far as i am aware there is no firmware or ROM update available for the M series
Leave the device on charge for 2 hours, Disconnect from the power supply, Move the slider over to the reset position for 30 secondsm then slide back.
The device will now boot in to the normal software. |
