Well, since I couldn't see any/many comments on this device, I thought I'd post up.

I run EZCam with PGPSW database on my HTC Desire, which works fine in my daily driver when I'm on an unfamiliar trip. However, it's a bit of a pain for normal journeys, or in my weekend car where I don't want horrible sucker marks everywhere.

The Inforad V4e seemed to be the perfect solution, small & cheap.

Took it for a run today, it seems to still have a few mobile positions that have been removed from the PGPSW database - but nothing too extreme.

Updates seem nice and easy, didn't like Windows 7 but worked on Windows XP.

I'm hoping to sit it on top of the steering cowl, as then it's nice and visible. Just hoping I can hear the alerts over the exhaust Twisted Evil

I'll update this thread with my thoughts as I go, but for now - for the price (£33.30 from Pixmania) it seems a bargain.

Have you got a particularly loud exhaust then. Most people used to mention the fact that Inforad device alerts are too loud Confused

This one has a volume control so can turn down if required.

The other car is a TVR, so slightly noisy!

The issue with Windows 7 is something to do with the driver for the USB cable connection. I googled this when I got my V4e a couple of months back and found a solution for Vista - when I tried this for W7 it started working just fine.

It's not a bad unit, it does have volume control and you can set fixed cameras to alarm with a sound and mobiles to be silent i.e. just the flashing lights - otherwise it would drive me nuts there are that many of them!

For the price (I paid £29 for the version with a battery off Inforad's own site during a 50% off sale) it's not too bad a unit.

To update this, it seems to have problems getting a satellite fix when it's a particularly cloudy day, but other times it's fine.

Slightly frustrating - but at the end of the day, it's a cheap unit so I wasn't expecting military grade GPS acquisition.
