Think about what you wrote there...
Your reaction time as a human is measured in seconds, not yards. It may seem counter intuitive (and that's why we show the distance in the camera list, as a window dressing) but in the background all logic is solely based on "how long would it take me at the current speed to get to that camera". Which incidentally is the same as your second statement. _________________ Lutz

I have just installed the app and have one comment already. When I have my phone on silent, that's because I have a reason for not wanting sounds. Maybe for this app there is some argument for making camera warnings audible when other sounds are off, but that should be a option rather than default behaviour. And anyway, why does the warning in startup about the outdated database need to be spoken - what's wrong with a dialog? |

Phone: HTC Desire HD
Android: v2.2 TMobile
Did a 100 mile run today and all went nearly well.
Like others, it said I had an out of date database.
Also when exiting from the app, it was still running using the GPS. Had to do a forced stop.
One other point I noticed was that it reported cameras that were "off" route. Example being northbound M3 approacjing Winchester A34 turn off Junction 9. It came up with a speed camera for 60mph yet I'm in lane 3 heading towards J7 of the M3.
This also happened near poole, cameras being reported that were on other roads.
On the up side, the install and linking of my account was simple and painless and I like the quick report of a camera button.
Some of things I said maybe down to the settings but I'd rather post this now just incase.
Q: Will this link into the google satnav so I could set the route and then have this ap running in the background?
Regards
Steve |

I have just downloaded the app and tried it on my Motorola Defy. The app loads ok but as soon as I put the GPS on, the app crashes. The phone is running Android 2.1.
If I can be any help on this please contact me so I can supply further information. _________________ Acefreecell

HTC Desire, 2.29.405.5.
Have loaded the App, sat in the front room looking out the window and shows me as doing 0 mph, so far so good
Have fiddled around changing settings etc and a quick 10 min drive. No problems as yet, except for the GPS still on when close down the App. The GPS icon is removed from the task bar, but when I open settings it is still shown as being on.

HTC Desire 2.2
Issue A
1. Launch app
2. Ensure GPS is not enabled ( left icon unchecked)
3. Click the icon that shows the list of the speed cameras
4. Click the list icon for a 2nd time the + - zoom buttons have disappeared from the map page
Issue B
1. Launch app
2. Pressing the back arrow/ or Home ke does not cause the Gatso icon to appear at the top of the phone.
Note IF the phone lock comes into play, then the phone is unlocked the Icon does appear.
Issue C
1. Browse the map so that Mobile camera 80981 is the the centre of the page (red cross on top of icon), below that should be a Mobile on the M62
2. Touching the icon on the M62 causes it to show me details of the Unverified camera on Weeland Road
Suggestions
1. The ability to send a crash report from within the app
2. The ability to use zoom buttons whilst the app has a GPS lock
3. The ability for the app to auto start if it connects to a registered bluetooth headset/car kit _________________ Wayne

HTC Desire 2.2
Installed smoothly and seems to run well, congratulations to all concerned.
The only issues I have are same as mentioned:-
1. Bring up the camera list by tapping the icon & the + - zoom buttons disappear
2. The camera icons are so big that they obscure most of the map when zoomed out. Zoom right out & they all pile up in a large speed camera heap
3. Swiping too close to a camera icon brings up "camera actions" to the extend that it's very difficult to look around the map without constant interruptions from the "camera actions" screen.
4. How do we use CameraAlert whilst using Google Map Navigation? |

A - is a design decision - when you use automatic zooming (in the advanced settings) the zoom buttons will disappear as described. We may change that feature though
B - if you don't have the GPS enabled then the list will only show the cameras that you are currently displaying in your ma window.
C - that's a known issue with the rotating map. Looks like the operating system gets confused when we counter-rotate the touches. Switch the rotating map off and it will work ok. We're still looking to find a solution for this. _________________ Lutz

3. We changed that from "Touch" to "Click" but the real solution will be a separate callout. Working on it
4. Just as you are used to. Run CamerAlert, enable tracking, then press the Home or Back buttons, start Google Map Navigation. CamerAlert will keep running in the background (as indicated on the status bar) _________________ Lutz
