Being bit of a novice on the technological front I want to first say that I have found reading all these comments really helfpul and say thanks to those who have contributed.

But I still have three questions mainly in relation to using TT3. First, is the problem with TT3 mainly the fact it does not have towns listed in the search for address function? So typing in an address long hand could cause a problem. As I have downloaded the postcode software (which is great) to locate places I am going to this fault shouldn't matter right ? Or will it just not navigate to my destination even if I use the postcode location software instead of the TT3 address serach function.

Second, I am really paranoid about loading TT3 now as it took me weeks to work out how to work TT2 and that was without all the challenges associated with TT3. Have these problems be resolved by the updates?
Alternatively I was thinking of getting a Dell X30 which has the faster chip (624MHz). Has anyone tried TT3 with this and does anybody know if TT will work faster on this than my HP2210 (400MHz chip).

Third, does anybody know of some good maps I can get for the East coast US? I am heading over there in the autumn and would like to drive but my sence of direction is even worse than my tech skills.

Thanks for any help

I can't answer the TTN3 questions because TT3 is not yet released in the US. Which brings me to the answer of your last question. You can use TTN2 in the US, and the maps are relatively decent. If you want the latest maps then you can use CoPilot 5 (just released). But there are plenty of other options available - check the comparison database.

Thanks for the reply to the question regarding US maps.

Do you have any idea on my questions regarding the maps in TT3 - so long as I use the postcode locator it will get me there even if the town is not listed were I to use the long hand version instead.

Also would TT3 work and would it be quicker on the Dell X30 than my HP2210?

Thanks

I can't answer the postcode question since I am located in the US.

The processor speed difference is not big enough to be felt subjectively. The choice of SD card is much more important.

Lutz,

Where can I get hold of a copy of TTN2 USA (I'm in the UK)?

IIRC there are instructions on this site to get it to co-exist with TTN3 (UK).

Cheers,

Carl

Thanks. A bit of investigation after clicking some of the links on that site reveals that Expansys UK will sell me TT USA for £130 which seems OK.
