If you mean renaming a new map then right/click on the map folder then rename and call it "my new map" or whatever. |

Can you explain what you want to do as its a little difficult to work out, there are loads of different things to rename to get different features/ capability, if its not renaming the map name but something else can you explain what you want? - Mike |

Mike, I’m sorry if I wasn’t too clear what I wanted to do, but Anita pointed me in the right direction. I have now bookmarked that page and hopefully will be able to tell if I’m using the internal memory or the card.
Thank you Anita and Mike for looking at my post.

ONLY if you change/rename the map folders.
Changing the .pna won't help if both map folders are called:-
Western_and_Central_Europe |

Are you sure, franb?
The way I have always done it in the past has been to open the .pna file with Notepad and to just edit the first line.
It should read something like "ID=Western_Europe.pna", but you can edit the "Western_Europe" bit to whatever you like (to "ID=Western_Europe_v860.pna" for example).
There was no need to change the folder names.
But things may have changed since I did it last....

Thanks franb,
So if I rename the Western & Central Europe map folder on the sd card to something else, when I want switch map it will work with the new name? Assume then that I will also have to alter the .pna file within to the same name.

I can confirm to you both that you do NOT need to change the folder name.
As a test, I just put my old v855 Western and Central Europe map back onto an SD card in my Go940.
That map folder and the new v860 map folder (on the internal memory) are BOTH called Western_and_Central_Europe.
All I did was change the first line of the .pna file of the old map as I described above.
I changed it to
ID=Western_and_Central_Europe-old!!.pna 1224205559 855
And sure enough, when I go to the "Switch map" menu this is what I see...
I can switch between them and confirm that I have by checking the version numbers in the info/status screen.
Remember, both map folders are still called Western_and_Central_Europe.

Not weird if one folder is in internal memory and the other is on an SD card. _________________ Anita
