How are you loading them to the device?
Are you following the instructions here?
Have you enabled Custom POIs? |

Are you testing this in the real world by driving or just looking at the map?
Best to test it by driving. |

Hi yes did a 100 mile run, only cameras that show are the garmin ones, switch those off and no cameras, used the database on my previous two units, one tom tom and a garmin with no problems |

Hmm. There hasn't been a Garmin model the database doesn't work with so far and quite a few members have the 1490 and no compliants it doesn't work so far....
Just to check...
- you are downloading the Garmin POILoader database?
- you are located in the UK and you have chosen the UK database and not the European one?
- if you know the location of a camera if you zoom in on the map right up to it does it show?*
- you are using Garmin POILoader to install the speed camera database in Express mode?
- once you have loaded the speed camera database you are NOT then loading any further POI files such as Supermarkets and Petrol Stations etc?
* Not sure if you can still do this with the latest models... |

so they've installed correctly then. can you go to: settings / proximity alerts and make sure that 'custom poi' is ticked?

All you will see is a file called POI.GPI in the Garmin/poi folder

Then they are loaded. However Garmin units only show you the POIs closest to your location hence the short list. I can't remember if it's the closest 25 POIs or if it's all POIs within 25 miles.... |

closest 25 (or maybe 40?) as opposed to within a certain radius.
