a daft question really since I think everyone here knows the answer !
what I am really after is exactly how many different cam types there are in PGSW data base compared with say 'speecamerapoi.com' who state:
speed cameras: 4811,
red light: 95 (yes, just 95)
speed traps (mobiles ?) 5031
this all came about when I recently got Radardroid for my new phone ..
but please, please PGPSW get your Android version of CamerAlert out sooon !
does anyone really know the current numbers for each ? |

Numbers have nowt to do with it though. We weed out old sites that are no longer active so whilst we may have less, there will be less false alerts.
However, our stats are public record, available here.
We've started the early private beta testing of Android. Once we move to public beta we'll open it up with an invite but it's very early days. _________________ Darren Griffin |

thanks for swift reply Darren,
you simply confirmed my beliefs, as PGPSW are world renowned anyway.
I was just messing about with my new Android whilst awaiting MoT 2.
I retired 6 months ago and had let my subscription lapse since not needing my old Winmo/tomtom setup anymore. (but not again !)
if I tell you that you look prettier in your avatar then me in mine,
would that sway you towards an invite for the new cameralert ? |

Nope but we will post when we need beta testers and there will be plenty of places. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I didn't ! that is very good news thanks.
I used to use separate redlight, specs, and gatso etc PSGPSW in Tomtom on Winmo and it was a great setup... hopefully now I can get a similar setup.
here is how I got really confused:
when I first got Radardroid I tried to get that setup.
I downloaded its database of fixed cameras and got 1040 added.
then I toggled it to redlight and got exactly the same file of 1040 !
this was obviously an error here, but when I emailed them they said I only needed the one download as it was ok for all, and that they were going to change the download screen to avoid confusion ...
which made me more confused as that screen certainly offers downloads of different types.
I'll be trying it out soon to see what the hell it does warn me of. |
