|
|
The POI I have loaded have suddenly lost all legibilty as to their names. Pocket GPS Cameras is now just small square boxes, and Work is now square boxes with a Y in the middle. If I use explorer, they are fully readable and correct on my storage card. Any thoughts most welcome.

Do the POI's still show on the map? If so then I'd rename the POI file to soemthing compleetly different, see if that name appears and if it does rename it back to the correct POI name.
If they no longer appear on the map then it would appear that the POI files themselves are corrupt.
You could use the PC utility POIedit to check the .ov2 files, it's available here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Looks like the POI Bitmaps have corrupted somewhere down the line. Used POIEdit and the .ov2 files seemed fine. Anyhow, took the bulls by the horn and deleted all my POI and reinstalled any that I could. Things seem fine now, they are readable once more.

We have frequently experienced this problem. It always seems to be possible to get the icons back and get rid of the strange symbols by removing some POI sets. I've wondered whether the glitch is caused by trying to include too many POIs or too many sets of POI or POI files that are too large. However, I've done lots of experimenting, but I can't detect any pattern.
We are still using TTN2 and have been hoping that the problem might be solved by an upgrade to TTN3 (We have been waiting for the address lookup business to be sorted out. Is it true that this has now been achieved with version 3.03?)
Are you using TTN3 and still experiencing this POI display problem? If so, that's disappointing!

Hugh, Yes I am using TTN3 and had the problem. I only had 4 POI files, the largest being Speed Cameras. The other 3 only had 5 or 6 places in the .ov2 file, and none of these were displayed apart from the speed cameras. Very strange !
I can confirm that the address look up in TTN3.03 is miles (excuse the pun) better than in TTN3.01

I've been having a similar problem, if I have more than one POI set I get this (I'm only using small POI sets, 3-5 POI in each).
I have even tried recreating the POI data manually within TTN from the map and it seems to make the whole TT setup completely unstable.
TT Support have suggested I try removing my CF card and installing a 16Mb map to the internal storage on my PDA (Dell Axim X5) but I haven't got enough as the usable RAM is not contiguous, but is divided into "My Documents" and "Internal Storage"
At the moment I have fudged a fix using a single POI set and renaming the POIs within to reflect what the POI type is (eg Pub - Bull and Bush, Campsite - The Old Field, etc) but this is far from ideal.
Does anyone have any bright ideas?
I am using a Dell Axim X5 (the basic model) TTN3.03 with a Viking 512Mb CF card.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried running Storage Tools against your CF card and or formatting it? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for the input Darren, but I appear to have solved it (fingers crossed, touching wood whist kissing a lucky rabbit's foot etc).
The problem appears to have been related to the BMP icon files.
